Agreed, with 188 tackles made in 11 matches with Tom Christie next best at 162 (but a match or two less, due to injuries), impressive consistent work rate
The Georgia game strikes me as a great opportunity for some of the fringe guys (Tizzano, Smith, Canham, Uru, Lonergan etc) to get their first cap. Just as long as we don't go overboard with it and end up losing to Georgia at home. Tizzano especially deserves to get a crack because at the moment if McReight goes down we don't have a capped specialist 7 to replace him.

would one cap make him any better?

It depends on whether they think Tizzano would be better than Wright as a 7. Personally, I don't think he is. So, if McReight goes down, I'd expect Wright to get the 7 Jersey.

Be interesting to see, Joe's first squad and then 23.

Just my opinion - Canham doesn’t feel like a fringe player. I think he is one of the starters this season at lock for the wobs.

Going very early there methinks.

2 or 3 caps this season is enough to keep building into 2025. His last 4 games have been excellent, but he was dropped to the bench earlier in the season after a bit of 2nd year blues so it's not all roses.

He's already pretty good. The second best 7 in the country IMO and we need a specialist 7 who can slot in if McReight gets injured. Wright is a blindside flanker who can cover 7, neither Scott and Reimer have locked down the Brumbies 7 jersey, Gamble has been meh this year and Ekuasi isn't a 7 and isn't eligible for Australia. Tizzano makes sense and his form is backing it up.

I would have him as my backup 7, Liam Wright would be my starting 6

Can we make it one of Tizzano and McRight/Write to facilitate people in the same positions having different sounding names. Makes debating much easier

Tizzano a long way off for me. Tenacious defender but very limited in attack.

My power ranking for 7 would be McReight > Wright > Scott > Reimer > Gamble > Browne > Tizzano

For me, he's promising but needs to dominate tight contacts more before I'd look at him for Wallabies duty. Clearly has good skills and a bit of ticker. I have the same criticism for Frost.

My current locking preference would be Skelton > Rodda > Salakai-Loto > Swain > Frost > Canham > Neville > Smith

I think Schmidt should be considering Bailey Kuenzle for a squad position, has been playing very well and can pretty much cover anywhere from 10-14. Sold defender, could do a lot worse.
I think it’s optimistic for a player in the worst team in Super Rugby and with no prior Wallabies form to get picked. This is aside from the fact he’s big average.

Might be the type of game they bring ex pats in to at least sit on the bench perhaps? They’ll have a 23 for the test. Will the risk the reserves to sit on the bench for this game? If not that’s another 23 players they need.

might be folk like Tom Staniforth, Jack Maddocks etc?

Ideally, though I'm not sure how regulation 9 works for a non test match within the test match window. Might be a limit to how much they can effectively take the piss there.

Will they have to take 12 front towers on tour?

You couldn't afford to have one of your test match 23 have to play a 70+mins 2 days before if there was an injury.

All euro comps are still running too, so possible no non-aussie based players released.
