Wallabies 2023

Exactly well said
It is news Eddie just doesn’t want to talk about it or doesn’t have an answer
Actually he does have an answer just drop half the side each week
I think tomthumb is Eddie as that has been his response for every player - “they earnt it”
With no substance
0 from 4 can’t hide from that either
Nonsense. Horrible take.

He's been as assistant coach in various roles for about a decade.

I'm assuming his role is more about facilitating Jones' plan and "installing it" rather than being hired to come up with the plan himself.
This is the role of every Jones' assistant coach. The master coach directs and the assistants carry it out. Collaborative coaching teams don't work for Eddie.

Ryles was the defensive coach for England 2016-17 when they had their most successful period under Eddie FWIW.

Also, someone with solid opinions, with zero f#cks to give, to challenge Jones maybe within the mix could be helpful

It is actually starting to look like a program that former XV players and those knocking on the door could find really enjoyable. High level rugby, in an entertainment atmosphere, being lauded for just doing rugby. How good can it get?

I did watch. The first 5 minutes are asking about the former coach, asking again about the former coach, asking about Quade Cooper, asking about Michael Hooper, asking again about Quade Cooper, asking about the Australian A squad, asking if the Australian A players have a chance to make the World Cup squad that was named a week ago.

Utter disrespect to the 33 players that are just about to leave to represent this country at a World Cup
All legitimate questions and ones that have been raised here and in many other places.

There was a time and a place for that. The team send off at the airport isn’t that
It’s part of Eddie’s job to caress the press in the direction he wants them to go. Dropping his shit doesn’t help anyone. He could deflect and say what he wants to get across. He is going to have to answer or respond to the tough questions, like all coaches/managers.

This ain't Eddie's first rodeo - he knows exactly what he's doing.

How many articles (and pages of this thread) have been written as a result of his mini blowup? How many do you reckon would've been written if he'd just toed the line?

No that was Paul Gustard, but Ryles was the skills coach in 2016/17 and also for the 2020 Six Nations - he was one of the better assistant appointments by Eddie, he was the only assistant involved in all 3 of their Six Nation's titles, along with Borthwick.
