Are we really that worried about a guy who has never played for the Wallabies nor is a realistic contender to be in the 23?

I am thinking more about next year and the need to have a bigger 7 with a solid skill set. Also that it was a pity he didn't come into consideration due to injury.
I think we must move away from small 7's, although I like McRight a lot, a big backrow is what we will be playing against if we get to the semi's and we have all seen Hooper bounced out of tackles and blown away in the ruck.
I think Wright is the only big 7 we have who could suit the role. Not a fan of Gleeson.

I have watched him in that role in his early Super Rugby games and he is good. McRight is more of a specialist and is very quick, in the Hooper mould . At this time in rugby evolution the backrow is getting very big PSDT at 7 is a monster. PSDT is not an open side. South Africans have a tradition where their open side wears no.6 and their blindside wears no.7. Hooper as an example if he was from RSA would wear no.6

I agree there is a trend however on bigger 7s but PSDT isn’t one.

I was surprised, as I was sure he was a 6 when I read he was a 7. Didn't realise that was how they numbered, although I played 3 seasons in SA.

Following Uncle Eddies statement around Kemeny and Utility players Ball Carrier Rugby on Instagram put up a post with players that have been in both the Forward and Backs (recent history as I reckon it happened more way back)

Pierre Spies - Backrow & Wing
Radike Samo - Backrow, Lock, Wing
Mauro Bergamasco - Backrow & Halfback

I know George Smith had a go at Halfback and Centre in Club games but I don't recall ever as an international. Any others?

I really do think it's an interesting idea and could help his RWC chances if Eddie is being serious.

I'm sure Higgers was at wing a few times (and not just when he was seagulling)

It's not like there are any hookers screaming 'pick me'. They all have flaws and none really demand selection.

Uelese has been pretty good at test level imo.

T.Hooper 6, Kemeny 7.

I haven't watched Kemeny much, just watched the 10 min replays of both of Rebels last games and apart from a seagull try and a fair bit of pillar and posting, I didn't see much to excite me. If he did half as much as Hardwick or Wilkins then I might agree with you.
I agree T. Hooper has strong potential.

Wilkins is the one that I would have liked to see given a shot. Good size 7 is a very solid pilferer and just seems to do most things pretty well. Sure he gives away a few penalties but show me a decent pilferer who doesn't and I will show you a unicorn.

There's no more planned changes before the Springboks is there? This is the TRC squad. With only Cooper, Donaldson & Gordon in the squad that means we're pretty certain to see Carter get his debut. That's something to be excited about. Been a while since I've been hyped for a Wallaby flyhalf to debut.
