I don't think getting the Brumbies to a Super Rugby final in 2013 is a compelling item on his CV to become head coach of the Wallabies in 2020.

I think Rennie is pretty close to being locked in but White certainly wouldn't be top of my recruitment list.

In comparison to Rennie - his shining light on his CV is Super Rugby win 2012... and 2013 where they only beat Jake Whites Brumbies by 3 points. Not sure you can discount Jake Whites but include Rennies.

So if your comparing CV's on paper - Jake White's is much better.

Regarding player availability, Phipps is Giteau claused and seemed to be in a spot of form post Super Rugby season, perhaps he'll continue with White for the next few years.
Also with Kerevi, as far as I can tell the Japanese season is reverting back to Aug-Jan after the next season (perhaps I'm wrong though). If so Kerevi finishes his contract end Jan 2022 and can play super Rugby Feb-March that year. Now if White can sign for 2021 and play in 2019 then surely Kerevi can sign for 2022 and play in 2020 no?

I'd rather him not, it doesn't work parachuting in players just for tours or the rugby championship. We had a proper run up to the RWC so it worked for White.

That EJ (Eddie Jones)'s Test w-l ratio with England since 2016 is ~ 80% doesn't impress you? IMO over nearly 4 years, that is his greatest achievement thus far, up there with the very best in those terms, and, like it or not, winning a lot is what matters in pro sports.

I've sold White short. I thought he was older than he is. If the process is still genuinely open and he is interested, he should be considered.

He still wouldn't be my choice but his recent CV is not a lot worse than Rennie's and his career CV is better (obviously the 2007 RWC win).

None of whom are supposedly good enough as they haven't coached internationally/not a kiwi/not a south African apparently.

I can't quite recall which international team Rennie has coached though. But nonetheless he's the best in the world.

Well, if you wish to argue that way, factor in if you must some imagined lower w-l % of EJ (Eddie Jones) in some imagined 'playing the ABs more often' scenario, I still believe that speculatively imputed % number would well exceed the w-l % outcomes of a Cheika. Maybe too you should in balanced, objective fairness compare that newly adjusted EJ (Eddie Jones) % to one where the T2 teams are wholly or partially excluded from the w-l % calculation for Cheika's Wallaby history.

EJ (Eddie Jones) has manifestly learnt, grown, 'matured' etc as an HC since leaving Aust. Fixing an England - up to an ~ 80% w-l outcome over 3+ years - an England that was in an absolute mess post RWC 2015 - is an unarguable major rugby HC achievement, whether or not some imagined AB allowance factor is thrown into the various outcome calculations.

Rennie's elite rugby record is objectively way, way inferior to this and EJ (Eddie Jones)'s generally over his whole career, whatever we think of the notion of Rennie taking over the Wallabies (which this post is not meant to be doggedly against).

Sorry mate, I'm not going to search through 100's of forum pages to find that post.

I can't think of any Aussie coaches that would have a successful CV behind them besides Eddie or Mckenzie but both aren't realistic options. I'm curious to know the other options.

We just tried that by running the ball out of our 22 against the best defence in world rugby - time to think rugby in a Kiwi way.

Not sure you can read too much into that. Hooper was a boy/rookie at that time - and Colby Fainga was the better performer at the time.

Anyways it's probably a moot point given Rennie sounds like a lock in. Rennie's team's have played some good rugby so I'm excited at the prospect despite the lack of international experience.
