Right I tried finding the thread on the scrum i thought existed but couldn't find it.

Thought we could cheer ourselves up on the existence of other forwards coming back to the australian fold, in time for the world cup etc, so pick your forwards

What I'd Like to see for the world cup:

1. Slipper
2. TPN
3. Weeks
4. Horwill
5. Vickerman
6. Hodgson/Salvi/Hooper
7. Pocock
8. Elsom

16. Moore
17. Robinson
18. Sharpe
19.Hodgson/Salvi/Hooper

Hopefully the World Cup Final that would be so funny especially if they blitzed RSA or another high rank in the semis

I think it's important to have a switch hitting prop on the bench - for us, that means Slipper or Alexander at international level. Simmons, Mumm, Baxter, possibly McCalman could be unlucky or might make it on form at least on the bench, but if I could pick anyone that'd probably be my first choice atm.

RF you have some...novel ideas

when will Palu return?

Super 15 I think.

RugbyFuture,
No Palu? Vickerman won't have much time to prove himself & Nathan Sharpe is in the form of his life I know the RWC is still 11 months away but on current form Sharpe is probably 2nd only to Pocock.

The forward pack looks good on paper (injuries aside) & a lot of big bruisers amongst the pack which is what we need I just wish that Foley was still part of the set up as Jim Williams & Noriego just don't seem all that good from the outside looking in.

No need to write my forward pack as I agree 100% with Dobduff on this one, give or take on TPN/Moore I can't split them.

Now that we have identified the phenomena of Robbie-speak, do we also need to identify the changes that Dingo et al will make to our preferred selections?

I think we need to get over this love of Hodgson. Sure the guy is a great player and probably one of the better forwards in the country. Unfortunately at international level he could only be considered as an openside. He is not tall enough to be a serious line out option and he doesn't have the size to be a line bending metre eater. Essentially having him in the team you are only covering one position, not two if you had somebody such as Higginbothom.

Certainly no more novel than that one of yours, MM.

A "switch hitting prop" eh? It just might work.

If I follow your logic, and I think I do being an old prop myself, it's easy to see how front rowers would get sullen and morose on a long tour, watching the local groupies make a bee line for the backs in night clubs.

As has often been noted, being a switch hitter doubles your chances on a Saturday night. Not only would the ambidextrous bench warmer have a good chance himself of getting a kill but his fellow props might be able to run off him.

Nothing else seems to work for us, so why not?

TWOS you could have Hodgo and Mumm by that logic perhaps? I think the thing is he's a workrate/breakdown fiend and a lot of us like that. If we had a big bopper who could also do the work then that'd be great, but Higgers goes missing too much and makes metres wide not tight.
