Chargers? Is there something you know that I don't? They were a well beaten Prem 4 team and Cerberus are always a competitive Prem 3 team.

As for Souths, fielding a 4ths for them is massive. Footscray have been doing a friendly Sunday fixture for a while now for their 4ths, or so I'm told.

Sorry meant Cerberus v Monash final

Was a great game, Powerhouse was really a team of 2 halfs. In the first half you would have thought they would lose by 20. Quins looked really good and had most of the attack.

In the second half Powerhouse spread the ball and looked good. They took the lead and jut couldn't hold on, even the final play they where on attack looking for the win.

Quins got out to that big lead and I think they thought it was going to be a bit of a cricket score. Credit to House though, they hung on there and almost caused an upset.

Box Hill 24 def. Footscray 22 - Henry Turner South Reserve, Cnr Farnsworth Avenue & Myers Road, Footscray
After finishing winless on the bottom of the ladder last season, the Box Hill Broncos have recorded their first Dewar Shield win of 2014 with a spectacular come-from-behind effort over Footscray.
The Broncos looked to have significantly improved over the 2014 off season, being narrowly defeated by Melbourne University in Round One.
At half time, the scores were level at five all; however Footscray skipped away to a 15-5 lead early in the second half. The Broncos then scored two tries to claim the lead in the second half, before Julius Schwalger crossed the line to put Footscray back in front. A successful conversion from Shane Imo put the score line at 22-19 with only minutes to go in the match.
With another win looking to have escaped Box Hill this season, Rebels' scrumhalf Ben Meehan made his mark on his Dewar Shield debut with a late try to put the Broncos in front for their first victory since mid 2012. Box Hill Head Coach Andrew Slyfield was impressed with the young scrumhalf, who has made four appearances as a replacement at the Rebels thus far in 2014.
"It was great having Ben debuting on Saturday and officially becoming part of the Box Hill family," Slyfield said. "He was keen to make an impact on the game and tried to take as much responsibility and get involved as much as he could.
"He provided both great service and an attacking threat all around the field, as his speed and fitness meant that he was always near the action. His kicking was also evident and often resulted in Box Hill getting into attacking positions as he turned the big Footscray forwards around. All the Box Hill players were delighted to have Ben on board and would also be very happy if the opportunity arose again in the future."
Despite the loss, Footscray were boosted by the inclusion of Rebels' Lock Cadeyrn Neville, who was a welcome late addition to the side for Coach Nic Henderson, bringing his strength to the breakdown.
"Cadeyrn came off the bench at half time and straight away made an impact on the game with some strong ball carries. His composure in the lineout and work rate off the ball was something the rest of the team fed off. He added a lot of muscle to our scrum and maul, even crossing over for a try off the back of a well constructed maul," Henderson said.
It was a disappointing afternoon for Footscray, who after making finals last year have now lost two tight matches to begin the season. The Dogs face another big challenge next week, playing away against last year's runners up the Melbourne Unicorns.
Box Hill will also be in for a tough match next week, travelling to Albert Park to take on the winless Power House, who will be understandably eager to record their first win over the new look Broncos.
Box Hill 24 Tries Savenaca Waqalutu (2), Sefanaia Naivalu, Ben Meehan Conversions Sefanaia Naivalu (2)
Footscray 22 Tries Soane Naufahu, Ikuna Tukuafanu, Julius Schwalger, Cadeyrn Neville Conversions Shane Imo
Moorabbin 26 def. Endeavour Hills 20 - Frog Hollow Reserve, David Collins Drive, Endeavour Hills
After an impressive Round One performance, decimating Power House by 35 points, Endeavour Hills were unable to continue their strong form, going down to Moorabbin in a tight match at home.
The defensive pressure of Moorabbin kept the onslaught which 'Hills supporters saw last week at bay, with their backline struggling to find the same speed and space as they did against Power House.
The game between these sides was always going to be played and won at the set piece, with both forward packs boasting a large amount of strength and experience. Veteran lock Motusaga Ese was named by Moorabbin coach Ben Perenise prior to the round as the player to watch, while front rower David Savea was highlighted by 'Hills coach John Eden as a player to expect big things from.
Moorabbin's forward pack ultimately prevailed in this match, however faced an extra challenge with Rebels' Prop Eddie Aholelei lining up for Endeavour Hills in the front row. Eden was full of praise for Aholelei's performance in what was a tough game for the forwards.
"He is getting better for us every week. He is a lot more involved in general play as I think he is getting more used to the guys around him. It was a very physical game and Eddie stood up well in this department," Eden said.
Endeavour Hills will have a bye in Round Three as they prepare to face the Melbourne Unicorns in Round Four. There will be only one team standing undefeated next week as Moorabbin host top of the table Harlequin.
Moorabbin 26 Tries Ikenasio Tuiatua (2), Ione Perenise Conversions Patolo Toeta Penalties Paul Tuia (3)
Endeavour Hills 20 Tries Junior Paila, Quinten Williams, Rennie Molimeau Conversions Junior Paila Penalties Anoy Brown
Harlequin 20 def. Power House 18 - Ashwood Reserve, Power Avenue, Ashwood
2013 Premiers Harlequin were prolific against Melbourne in Round One, however their attacking pressure struggled to come to the fore as Power House chased down the 'Quins in the second half in a thriller at Ashwood Reserve.
Harlequin came onto the park firing in the first half, scoring three tries to lead 17-3 after only 25 minutes of game time. Power House's defence faltered as it did against Endeavour Hills and it looked as if the 'Quins were set to record another big win for 2014. However, a second half turnaround from the visitors ensured for an exciting half of Rugby.
Power House scored the next two tries, with the boot of Adam Millgate putting the visitors in front with a conversion and two penalty goals. As the fulltime siren loomed, Power House sat a point ahead of their rivals, with their first win of the season getting closer and closer as the seconds ticked on.
A penalty against Power House in the closing stages opened up the opportunity for former Wallaby Lloyd Johansson to put 'Quins back in front, earning their second win of the season.
Rebels' winger Alex Rokobaro continues to make his presence count at Harlequin, putting in another solid performance in Round Two according to Head Coach Craig McGrath.
"Again, Alex came and approached the game as he would any other. He had limited opportunities on Saturday he made a nice couple of breaks and worked hard. It's always a pleasure to have Alex at the Club," McGrath said.
All eyes will once again be on Harlequin next week, as they travel to Moorabbin to take on the Rams, the only other side to remain undefeated in 2014. Power House will be looking to put their first win on the board as they host Box Hill.
Harlequin 20 Tries Taylor Acheson, Kemueu Valetini, Justin Marsters Conversions Kemueu Valetini Penalties Lloyd Johansson
Power House 18 Tries Edmund Tyrell, Waisea Ratabua Conversions Adam Millgate Penalties Adam Millgate (2)
Melbourne Unicorns 25 def. Southern Districts 22 - HMAS Cerberus, Westernport
After being comprehensively beaten by Harlequin last week, Melbourne has returned to the winner's list with a close victory over Southern Districts at HMAS Cerberus.
Southern Districts, who came into the game off a first round bye, were fresh and firing, looking to get straight into 2014 with a win after narrowly missing out on finals last year. This, however, was not to be, as the Unicorns significantly improved on their defence for Round Two.
Melbourne, who found themselves under immense pressure for Harlequin last week, were able to lock down in this game, and while they earned the win, it was still no easy feat, with Southern Districts threatening for the whole 80 minutes.
James Slattery starred for the Unicorns on the backline, while Malofou Feterika got his season with the Pirates off to a strong start with two pivotal tries. Rebel Jordy Reid impressed his Unicorns Coach Ellis Meachen, who noted that "he was very professional in all he did, and he made numerous decisive tackles in defence. Jordy also carried and cleaned very effectively."
Melbourne hosts a winless Footscray next week, while Southern Districts will face a refreshed Melbourne University who had the bye this week.
Melbourne 25 Tries Dan Corcoran, Freddie Austin, Ian Pahula, Blair Owen Conversions Paul McConnochie Penalties Paul McConnochie
Southern Districts 22 Tries Malofou Feterika (2), Gasa Tiatia Conversions Jarrod Dowie (2) Penalties Jarrod Dowie

We bring you everything you need to know ahead of Round Three of the 2014 Dewar Shield
After an exciting opening round of action that saw four contracted RaboDirect Rebels turn out for their Dewar Shield Clubs, including a match-winning Box Hill debut for Ben Meehan, we're back for week three and plenty more exciting action in the local competition. (Re-cap the Round Two results by clicking here.)
Moorabbin vs. Harlequin
The only sides to have won their opening two matches meet in what is sure to be a beauty in Moorabbin.
RaboDirect Rebel prop Max Lahiff makes his first appearance in the Dewar Shield, after being replaced in the Rebels' matchday 23 to face the Highlanders by Toby Smith. Lahiff has played Super Rugby as well as in the English Premiership and Heineken Cup with London Irish, and the 'Geezer' will bring no shortage of big-game experience to this clash.
For Quins, they must make do without Alex Rokobaro after the Fijian international received his first Rebels call-up of the season, however they can still count on former Wallaby Lloyd Johansson as the 2013 Dewar Shield winners look to continue their winning ways.
Players to watch - Moorabbin:
"Openside flanker Ikenasio Tuiatua, known to all as 'Sio', is in his first season at Moorabbin as a player. He coached the successful Rugby Sevens team in 2013; however he wasn't able to commit to playing due to work and family commitments. Already making his mark this season with strong games against Footscray and Endeavour Hills, Sio's main qualities are his defensive and fetching skills. He has scored a try in each game and is unlucky to not have more to his name. A born leader he brings calmness to our physical pack.
"Brendon Todd has this year had to play in the unfamiliar role as playmaker due to injuries suffered during the pre-season matches. This week he will be back at centre where he has made most of his first grade appearances. Toddy is 'Mr Safe'. He's a very good reader of attack plays on defence, and seems to make good decisions under pressure. One of the most consistent players I've coached, Brendon offers a lot to the team in his playing and leadership qualities." Ben Perenise, Moorabbin Head Coach
Players to watch - Harlequin:
"Maradona Farao was our man of the match last week for his work in defence. He made a lot of crucial tackles and covered a lot of ground to plug holes in our defensive line. For a man of his stature he certainly doesn't mind defending.
"Pom Simona was absent last week due to a wedding and was sorely missed. His leadership and experience along with his defensive game will be important on Saturday." Craig McGrath, Harlequin Head Coach
Melbourne vs. Footscray
Unicorns snuck a narrow victory against Southern Districts at Cerberus last week, following a thumping in the Round One Grand Final replay against Harlequin.
For 2013 finalists Footscray, it's been a tough start to the 2014 campaign with narrow defeats at the hands of Moorabbin and Box Hill leaving them winless. They'll need to lift to pull off an upset here, but with a number of players coming into a side decimated by injury there will be no shortage of motivation from this young squad.
Neither side will feature any allocated Rebels, with Jordy Reid named in a Super Rugby squad for the first time this season. Cadeyrn Neville played a strong half for the Dogs last week, however is in New Zealand and expected to feature off the bench against the Highlanders.
Players to watch - Melbourne:
"Ian Pahula is playing Number 8 and coming off a strong game last week against Southern Districts. His explosiveness was evident in the physical battles up front, and Ian showed real power off the back of the scrum resulting in a well-taken try. Up against a physical Footscray pack, it will be Ian's job to deliver front foot ball for the likes of Albert Aiolupotea to run on to.
"Albert, who is working his way into fitness and form, is formulating a dynamic midfield combination with Chris Slade. Albert is adding to his all round game each week as his match fitness increases." Ellis Meachen, Melbourne Unicorns Director of Rugby
Players to watch - Footscray:
"Jonah Lolesio has had some excellent form in 2nd grade this year, on the back of a strong Rebels U20's campaign. Has earned his spot in Premier Grade for this week, and will look to consolidate it with his strong running game and ball playing ability.
"Malcolm Paletua is another one whose form has benefited from inclusion in the Rebels U20's program, and he has shown it in two strong outings in 2nd Grade. With an opportunity to step up this week because of injury, he will be looking to create selection headaches through his strong on ball game and work rate in defence." Nic Henderson, Head Coach Footscray
Power House vs. Box Hill
Power House find themselves rooted to the foot of the Dewar Shield table, and know that they are in for a tough match against a resurgent Box Hill Broncos outfit who posted their first win in over twelve months last weekend at Footscray.
House were routed in their first match against Endeavour Hills, however were agonisingly close to pulling off an incredible upset against Harlequin in Round Two, only to be denied by a late Quins penalty goal and falter by two points. Depending on which House side shows up, this result could really go either way.
Rebel scrumhalf Ben Meehan had a massive impact on his Broncos debut, scoring their match-winning try against Footscray and earning a vote as one of the best players on the park. He'll be looking forward to again testing himself at Dewar Shield level, as he seeks to add further hardness to his already clever tactical game.
Players to watch - Power House:
Midfield back Ta'figa Sa and prop Jay Lesa are primed for strong showings for Power House this week. Ta'figa had about 60 minutes against Harlequins and featured strongly, despite this being his first outing this year. With that under his belt, I think he will be much better and he is itching to impress.
"Jay has played increasing minutes over the last couple of weeks and is showing improved fitness and contributing well. When he gets to full fitness he will prove a handful in both set piece and around the ground and I expect him to play about 60 minutes this week.
Players to watch - Box Hill:
"We have scored the majority of our tries out wide this season. This is partly due to our two flying Fijian wingers Savenaca (Save) Waqalutu and Filipe Koroibola always being a constant threat for the opposition and it will be no different this week against Power House.
"Save is a very powerful runner and has excellent acceleration. He is very comfortable in the midfield or on the wing. Save has been racking up the tries on the wing in both pre-season and the first two rounds of the competition and we hope to see him add to his tally again this week.
"Filipe is a very elusive runner and he runs great support lines. He has great ability to step players, put people into space and then look for a second touch of the ball. He has great understanding of his role within the team and works well with the players around him. He is a fantastic asset for the Box Hill team.
Southern Districts vs. Melbourne University
The final match of the round sees the two teams who have been a fixtured a bye already this season do battle.
The Pirates come into this match raring to make amends after a narrow loss to the Unicorns in Round Two, where they showed they have the ability to step up into finals contention if they are able to play consistent Rugby in this year's Dewar Shield.
Uni were successful in defeating Box Hill in a Round One shootout, and know that a second victory here will see them halfway to matching last season's total wins. Manu Samoa international, and contracted Rebel, Steve Fualau will play his second match for Melbourne University here.
Players to watch - Southern Districts:
"Teariki Daymond had a stellar 2013 season, winning the Club's best and fairest award. The 'big fella' was giving serious consideration to hanging up his boots, which is never an easy call especially when you have as much passion for the game as he does. Thankfully, he agreed to play another season and he proved his worth to the side with a typical workmanlike performance against Melbourne last week. He has an extraordinary skill set for a lock, and loves to carry the ball into contact as well as always looking for the clever offload.
"Jarrod Eberhart put in a massive pre-season campaign, and 'Buster' is primed for a huge year. Only 22 years of age, he is a leader within the Club and is motivated by the desire to be successful and the opportunities that now present in Victorian Rugby. A high work-rate, mobile front rower who will regularly challenge the defensive line with strong ball carries, he has also already this season demonstrated his ability to be a punishing defender." Ross Sanders, Head Coach Southern Districts
Players to watch - Melbourne University:
"Chris Aho is a big, surprisingly mobile Number 8 who came off the bench against Box Hill and changed the game. In an age of 'funky' movers and steppers, Chris is a deeply intelligent footballer whose experience and humble attitude is infectious.
"Junior Nuu is a dynamic outside back with fast feet, and he's still Colts aged. He's a player with enormous potential and a fantastic young man." Jason Jones, Head Coach Melbourne Uni

Interesting round.

Are Quins as good as we think?
Are Box Hill actually a decent 1st grade team? For that matter, is Uni actually a decent 1st grade team?
And, what the hell exactly happened to Footscray?

Quins looked good in the first 20 minutes at the weekend, then they just slacked off.

Box Hill looked really good in the trials, however as always with them they are 1-2 injuries away from being a very different side.

I didn't watch but remind it is only round 2 you're talking about there. Signs or a good team are there, play poorly and still manage a win. 2 years ago Quins would have lost that game! Plus Pom Simona is a quality player...

Uni always have hype, this year they have some decent cattle, pinching Aho from House is massive, plus having Tai Talia back is a big bonus.

House v Box Hill will be a good test for both teams. House desperately need a win and Box Hill have taken big steps forward since 2012/13.

It was an interesting round indeed.

So, Uni are looking to be a top 4 side, Footscray are looking to have fallen off the pace despite being better on paper than last year, something's gone wrong at Power House, and Moorabbin/Quins are looking like probably the top 2 sides (with Moorabbin in the lead).

The league is taking a pretty different shape to what was predicted, though like others have side it's only round 3.

REBEL RADAR - DEWAR SHIELD ROUND 3

Box Hill 76 def Power House 18 - Langshaws Reserve, 5th Avenue, Altona
Box Hill have continued their incredible 2014 form turn around with a massive scalp over Power House, defeating last year's finalists by an incredible 58 points at Power House's alternative home ground in Altona.
Box Hill's backline fired against Power House, scoring an incredible twelve tries. Box Hill had eight individual try scorers, with Savanaia Naivalu crossing the line three times for the visitors.
It was a pleasing effort for Bronco's Head Coach Andrew Slyfield, who was particularly impressed with the efforts of Rebel's scrum half Ben Meehan, who has played a key role in both of the side's wins this season.
"Ben had a great game on the weekend as he continues to grow his combinations with the Box Hill team. He had a hand in a number of the tries and also scored one for himself off a back row move in the first half. His style and approach really suits the team and he has been fitting in well with everyone on and off the field. He provides great service to both the backs and forward runners and is a constant threat. He also has great vision and has the ability to put the ball in behind the opposition with some deep kicks," Said Slyfield.
"Ratu Rokotunaceva had a strong game with ball in hand as the forward pack had their strongest game of the season lead by Sione Puamau and Mo Haukinima. The team knows that they are going to have to match Southern up front this week if they are going to have any chance of winning next weekend."
It was another disappointing showing for Power House, who has struggled so far this season, despite showing good signs against Harlequin last week.
Power House Head Coach Glenn Fowles was unable to find any positives in the home side's performance, however is looking forward to the break to give the team a chance to regroup.
"The reality is after a beating like that there aren't any complimentary comments I can make about the team or any individual players. All I can do is congratulate Box Hill on what was an extremely convincing win. We will take the next two weeks with a bye and the Easter break to pick ourselves up and start again for Footscray in Round Five."
Box Hill 76 Tries: Savanaia Naivalu (3), Sefanaia Naivalu (2), Bill Seveti (2), Ratu Rokotunaceva, Joe Cowsens , Ben Meehan, Filipe Koroibola, Alex Healey. Conversions: Sefanaia Naivalu (7), Bill Seveti
Power House 18 Tries: Adam Millgate, Walsea Ratabua. Conversions: Adam Millgate. Penalties: Adam Millgate (2)
Moorabbin 32 def Harlequin 28 - Keys Rd Reserve, 90A Keys Rd, Cheltenham North
Moorabbin have made an impressive start to 2014, yet to record a loss after a thrilling four point win over last year's Premiers Harlequin.
Both side came into the match undefeated, setting up for a scintillating afternoon of Rugby at Moorabbin's home ground in Cheltenham North.
It was a tight tousle between both sides, with Harlequin looking to have the game sewn up after a penalty goal gave them a one point lead at the 79 minute mark. A spectacular running combination from brothers Tui and Paul Tuiatua saw the younger of the two, Paul, cross the line after the siren for the win, in a match that is staking an early claim as game of the season.
Moorabbin Head Coach Ben Perenise said he enjoyed the win, particularly after the Rams were unable to beat Harlequin last season, with Melbourne Rebels Under 20s representative Patolo Toeta a standout for the Coach.
"It was great to finally get a win over Harlequins after a loss and a draw in 2013.I was very impressed with Pat Toeta who started his first game for the top side at first five. He found his feet after the first half and started to control the game a little more in the second. He has a bright future at the club and will be one to watch in the future."
"All the players dug deep and for the second week we've manage to come from behind and take games. This shows a lot of character by all. Harder games to come and it is early days but we will take the points on offer."
Harlequin will be looking to get back on the winners list next week when they travel to Footscray, while Moorabbin will be looking to continue their winning streak against fellow undefeated side Melbourne University.
Moorabbin 32 Tries: Paul Tuiatua (2), Ikenasio Tuiatua, Lualua Vailoaloa, Malo Young-Yen. Conversions: Paul Tuiatua (2). Penalties: Paul Tuiatua
Harlequin 28 (Details TBC)
Melbourne University 25 def Southern Districts 24 - Riviera Park, Eel Race Rd, Seaford
Following their Round Two bye, Melbourne University have come away victorious in another breathtakingly close game for the students, defeating Southern Districts by a point.
It was a scrappy and defensive game, with both sides struggling to find any flow in attack. The player's from both teams competed hard at the breakdown, causing multiple turnovers and disallowing each side to work past a third or fourth phase.
Melbourne University's forwards prevailed in the first half giving them a 17-12 lead at the break, however the Pirate's fought back in the first half, threatening the visitor's and taking the lead with fifteen minutes to go. The strength of the University forwards once again proved to be the difference, with a driving maul from the lineout sending the students over the line for the victory.
Southern District's Head Coach Ross Sanders was disappointed with the close result, however was able to see many positives in another extremely competitive match from the Pirates.
"For the second week running we have found ourselves on the wrong side of a close score line. We were really challenged by the size of Melbourne University's forwards," Said Sanders.
"Right winger Suka Fakhua made the most of limited opportunities with two tries in the first half. Our left winger Hein McFarland was dynamic with incredible speed and balance on show. One of our best players was new arrival Brad Nicholson, who backed up an impressive debut on the open side flank with another solid performance."
University were boosted by Rebels Hooker Steve Fualau, who once again performed well for the side, proving to be a great leader according to coach Jason Jones.
"Another dominant performance from Steve where his set piece, particularly his accuracy in the line out was a feature. Steve is becoming a pivotal figure to the young Uni team and his "Follow me" leadership is inspiring."
Joshua Tamanisau and Melbourne Rebels Under 20s captain Fereti Sa'aga also impressed their coach.
"In a world full of big, tall back rowers, Josh is a traditional "scavenger" 7. Nothing Josh does is passive, and his on ball work rate and breakdown skills are exceptional. Josh has the ability and attitude to play at the next level. Fereti made his Uni debut off the bench and made a huge impact. His ball carrying is a feature of his play and what a wonderful addition for the Uni Program."
Melbourne University will be looking to upset a dominant Moorabbin side when they take on the Rams next week, while Southern Districts will look to record their first win of the year against a rampant Box Hill.
Melbourne University 25 Tries: Steve Fualau, Chris Aho, Jimmy Yates. Conversions: James Nettleton (2). Penalties: James Nettleton, Ipane Sefo
Southern Districts 24 Tries: Suka Fakahua (2), Teariki Daymond, Heine McFarland. Conversions: Jarrod Dowie (2)
Melbourne Unicorns 32 def Footscray 15 - Romanis Reserve, Orrong Rd, Prahran
The Melbourne Unicorns have denied Footscray their first win of the season with a strong performance at home.
After being comprehensively beaten by Harlequin in Round One, the Unicorns have been improving steadily, with a narrow win over Southern Districts last week, leading into what Coach Ellis Meachen described as more "comfortable" victory for the last year's runners up.
"We gave up an early lead, but once we were able to settle into the game we played some really attractive Rugby which lead to the win," Said Meachen.
"Half back Karl Belamni was a constant threat with Paul McConnichie giving his outside backs plenty of time to show their skills. With players returning from injuries competition is, bringing out the best in the Club's players."
With Footscray Head Coach Nic Henderson away with the Melbourne Rebels Under 17s in Perth, Leki Sisifa stepped up to the leading role, and despite the loss was impressed with his young side's efforts, particularly in the face of injury.
"Fielding a team mixed with youthful exuberance and measured experience we knew it would be a tough afternoon playing a premier club like Unicorns who have contested finals rugby on numerous occasions in recent years. New look centre combination of Xavia Siola'a and Jonah Lolesio saw some flashes of speed and precision when space was created for the ball to travel out wide, while Soane Naufahu and Ikuna Tukuafu were toiling hard all day," Said Sisifa.
"Some unfortunate injuries forced our hand and tested our player depth but it was good to see Keisuke Yamada get some much needed kilometres in the legs and Mercy Lufe returning from a niggling injury."
Melbourne Unicorns 32 Tries: Karl Balemi (2), Albert Aidupota (2), Shuan Mortenson, Tim Emery. Conversions: Paul McConnachie
Footscray 15 Tries: Xavia Siola'a, Stanley Ili. Conversions: Shane Imo. Penalties: Shane Imo

Rebels have advised that 15-17 local blokes will be part of Rising NRC squad of 33 - only players playing in the Melb comp will be eligible - no players from Sydney or Brisbane comps will be included even if they are from Melb originally. Hopefully they will stick to their word but for $$ reasons I don't think they have any choice wither.

It's been a tough start to the season for Footscray, who finished fourth on the ladder last season before being eliminated in the first week of the finals. Under new Head Coach and former Wallaby Nic Henderson, they have suffered three losses by a combined total of less than 30 points; in short, they have been in every match they have played, but a tough fixture and a lack of experience has left them just short. With Colby Fainga'a, Cadeyrn Neville and Cruze Ah-Nau all fulfilling pivotal roles with the Rebels, and Lopeti Timani injured in his last Footscray outing, they have also suffered with a lack of availability of allocated Rebels.
Their task gets no easier in Round Four, as they come up against 2013 winners Harlequin. Quins will be smarting following a narrow loss against competition leaders Moorabbin, and will be looking to return to winning ways. With Alex Rokobaro on tour with the Rebels, as well as fellow internationals Scott Higginbotham, Shota Horie and Male Sau, this game will see the focus placed squarely on local players; many of whom will be looking to use this competition as a springboard into the Melbourne Rising side in the NRC.
A beauty of a match beckons, and while it is too early in the season to label this a must-win for the Doggies, they know that if they are to repeat last year's record and qualify for the business end then they need to start winning.
Players to watch - Footscray:
Tim Diack- Returns this week after missing the last round through concussion. He is the inspirational leader of the team and leads by his actions as much as his words. Tim will look to put his mark on the game through high his work rate and physicality at the breakdown. He's a tireless performer. (Nic Henderson, Footscray Head Coach)
Xavia Mataele - Earned his opportunity last week to start at inside centre and had a fairly impressive start to his 1st grade career, forming a great combination with Jonah Lolesio in the centres. Great organiser on the field and one of the Club's best defenders, Xavia will need these skills on the weekend when coming up against a red hot Harlequins back line. (Nic Henderson, Footscray Head Coach)
Players to watch - Harlequin:
Ta Hosea - Young back rower with a lot of potential will come off the bench this week . Has impressed in the colts and through the Age grade rep teams recently involved with Southern State 20s. (Craig McGrath, Harlequin Head Coach)
Angus Arundel- Like Ta, he get his opportunity this week. A player who just goes about his business very effectively with minimum fuss. Also recently involved in Southern States 20s. (Craig McGrath, Harlequin Head Coach)
Melbourne vs. Endeavour Hills
Hills come into this match off the bye, and find themselves thrown straight into a really tough challenge against last season's runners up, the Melbourne Unicorns.
The Unicorns will be buoyed by the return of Rebels' backrower Jordy Reid, who missed last week when named in the Super Rugby side's matchday 23 for the first time this season. For Endeavour Hills, Tongan international Prop Eddie Aholelei is the lone Rebel representative, with young flyhalf Jack Debreczeni an outside chance to return from injury and make his Dewar Shield debut in two weeks following the competition's Easter bye.
Players to watch - Melbourne:
Marcus Slade looks set to return to the Unicorns this week in a home game with Easter looming; Marcus has had trouble with his toes but appears to be over his ailment.
Chris Slade will offer guidance in the midfield which operated very well last week.
These two will be valuable voices to captain Tim Emery in what is expected to be a close encounter in difficult conditions. (Ellis Meachen, Director of Rugby, Melbourne Unicorns)
Players to watch - Endeavour Hills:
Thomas Labar is just 20 years old. He has been on church mission for the last 2 years, however played in New Zealand at a high secondary level. He is an impressive runner with the ball and a strong defender. (John Eden, Head Coach Endeavour Hills)
Hooker Mani Teo has played as a flanker for all of his senior playing years; however he decided that if he wanted to play Premier Grade at the level we expect, he would need to change positions. Mani has a fantastic work rate and doesn't mind mixing it. He's still working on technical skills, but is the improver of our team. (John Eden, Head Coach Endeavour Hills)
Box Hill vs. Southern Districts
In arguably the best performance of any Dewar Shield side thus far in 2014, Box Hill Broncos decimated Power House to the tune of a 58 point victory last round. It's easy to forget that the Broncos went winless for the whole of last season, after they posted their second straight win to sit third on the table. Rebels' scrumhalf Ben Meehan has proved a vital spark in the last two games, and will again line up for the Broncos.
The Pirates are without a win from their two matches, victims of misfortune with a combined losing total of four points across those games. With a tough task in a visit to Endeavour Hills facing them in Round Five, Southern Districts will be looking to pick up their first victory of the season here.
Players to watch - Box Hill:
Teo Fudakowski is a big, but quick, lock who brings an excellent skill set to the game. He is a very good defender, as his speed gets him into a good position to tackle and his large frame means he can cover a lot of space and easily wrap up attackers. Over the last few weeks, like any good lock, he has been working hard in the tight stuff but we look forward to seeing him in some space so he can show his skills and ball carrying capabilities. (Andrew Slyfield, Head Coach Box Hill)
Joe Cousens is a hard working back rower who has been doing a ton of work for Box Hill this season in the number 7 jersey. Joe is highly motivated player who constantly strives to play at his best. He has an excellent understanding of the game and knows his role in the team. Whether it be tackling the opposition in defence or being on the ball as a link player or ball carry. His great work hasn't gone unnoticed and his contribution has been reflected in Box Hill's success this season. (Andrew Slyfield, Head Coach Box Hill)
Players to watch - Southern Districts:
Barry Te Hiko has been a constant in the #9 jersey at Southern Districts for near on a decade. Elevated to the senior ranks at a young age and always admired for his tenacity and on field work ethic, Barry has developed into one of the leading scrumhalves in Premier Rugby. Taking on the captaincy of the Pirates in 2014 Barry is excited by the challenge of going head to head with Rebels' scrumhalf Ben Meehan this weekend. (Ross Sanders, Head Coach Southern Districts)
Sean Mehrtens is a new arrival at Riviera Park this season having played for the Championship winning Southern Sharks in the 2013 Senior A Taranaki competition. Sean is an exciting fullback who remains composed under pressure with a good turn of pace, a booming right boot and solid defensive game. He's definitely one to watch, and is a handy addition to an already talented backline. (Ross Sanders, Head Coach Southern Districts)
Melbourne Uni vs. Moorabbin
A contracted Rebel hooker, and former Super Rugby winner with the Crusaders, Steve Fualau has made a huge impact since his Melbourne Uni debut a couple of weeks ago. Fualau will again turn out for his new side, and adds some great experience alongside backrower Chris Aho to a young Uni side.
The students are two from two, and face the competition's only other unbeaten side in the Moorabbin Rams. The Rams were tipped to move up the table this season; however the manner in which they have done so has surprised many. Their narrow victory over 2013 champion Harlequin served as a warning to the rest of the competition, as they showed just what they are capable of achieving.
Players to watch - Melbourne Uni:
Matthew Onesemo is an amazing story of perseverance and on having a positive attitude towards achieving his goals. Semo was first identified through the Victoria Under 20's Program two years ago, and was a huge young man who needed to work on his overall fitness. He has shed over 40kg during this period!

'Semo' has worked tirelessly and is now starting to reach his potential. Currently a tighthead prop, but earmarked for a spot in the back row over the coming years, Semo's ball carrying and work rate are his obvious strengths, but it's his amazing positive attitude to life, not just rugby, that make him so important to the Melbourne Uni Rugby family. He is near-impossible to stop close to the try line too. (Jason Jones, Head Coach Melbourne Uni)

James Yates is a strong, traditional inside centre who straightens the attack and bangs in defence. He leads our 'communication' network both on and off the field. (Jason Jones, Head Coach Melbourne Uni)

Players to watch - Moorabbin:
Front rower Tui Tuiatua's still carrying a couple of niggles he picked up over the pre-season, and is trying to get back to full fitness one game at a time. That is, however, hard to believe following his Man of the Match performance against Harlequin in Round Three. Dangerous with ball in hand and possessing footwork like a winger he has no issues in finding his way forward, sometimes to the try line. He is a key cog in our journey this year and we all look forward to seeing him at full fitness; can't say the opposition will be though! (Ben Perenise, Moorabbin Rams Head Coach)
Paul Tuiatua's season was cut short in 2013 with a bad ankle break in the first round against Southern Districts. This year he has come back with a vengeance. Playing at inside centre for all three games this year, Paul has improved in each one and is becoming comfortable in his new role. He seems to put himself in the right spot and runs very good lines. His read on defence has been key thus far and we will be looking for him to continue his good early form. (Ben Perenise, Moorabbin Rams Head Coach)

Great news!

Guys,

We’re a group of 8 heading down to Melbourne for the Test vs France. My thirsty chums and are looking for a rugby lunch to attend earlier that day. It doesn’t have to be a schmick one and we’d be happy to attend one at a clubhouse or similar.
Anyone know of any lunches on that day?
