Good process, they learnt it from the ARU Handbook of Robbie deans appointment. At least interview the guy then offer him a lesser role.

"having experience coaching at a Super franchise before getting a head coaching gig is obviously favourable." I think he may have already done that, DPK. In 2007 he was attack coach of the Bulls when they won their first ever Super title. The next year he performed a similar role for the Waratahs when they reached the Final. Strange that you didn't take the trouble to find that out before passing a snide comment.
And "having experience coaching at a Super franchise" doesn't appear to have been a relevant criterion in making the selection.

Apologies if I misinterpreted your motives, DPK.
On the issue of whether Todd should have attended the interview I've been a close observer of the machinations at Driver Avenue for sufficiently long to realise that they tend to deal from the bottom of the deck. They are anything but straight shooters. I also suspect that the soon to be announced appointee will choose his own support team so second prizes wouldn't have been on offer.

It is a total insult to invite someone to an interview and to tell them in advance that they already had someone else as a preferred candidate. I employed a lot of people over the years and sometimes I had a feeling that someone in the interview process was not going to make it but I NEVER ONCE told them that before the interview.
All these snooty so-called professional types with big industry experience on the Board and yet no one has a clue how to conduct a formal job interview. Of all the bad stuff I have read this is undoubtably the worst, even worse than the salary cap dishonesty. (I refuse to call it shennanigans as though it was just teenagers mucking up).
I guess Louden is off overseas to look for a gig in the NH. Good luck to him. Terrible waste of Aussie coaching talent - its not like we have heaps of talent here, we even imported a third-rate head coach for our national team.

It's often the case with managers who are too far removed from how an organisation is actually run. I too have interviewed and hired many people over the last decade or so and I have a very simple rule when it comes to recruitment: don't waste anyone's time (the employer or the candidates). If it's as Bruce has described, the Tahs deserve all the lack of success coming to them.

My understanding was (could be wrong here) that the Force need a head coach, as Foley is director of coaching at present. It's the job that John Mulivihill knocked back.

He is a good coach, but what major pro teams has he coached successfully? His success so far has been as assistant or coaching semi pro

Whilst one could argue Louden is a better coach or at least a better fit (all arguements are purely academic), you probably can't say he's better credentialed.
HOWEVER, you'd still think they'd interview a coach as well credentialed as Louden with proper due process.

I disagree, I've only read on this forum what Cheika has acheived - i dont think his acheivements deserve the hype the media has shown him.
Louden I do not know, up until last weeks game against Manly I have seen a one dimensional game plan through the fowards which yes it has proven to be succesful "in the Shute Shield", THIS IS WHAT CONCERNED ME. In the Manly game a Super 15 backline opened it up a bit more so there is more than one dimension. Also the players he's fielded at Uni have more rep exeperience than the oposition - so he's had the advantage there. Again, I have not paid enough attention to pass accurate comment on Louden.
I still hope Tim Lane is a chance, he also has a pretty impressive CV globally.
But again like Bruce I am bias.
Bruce has said in another thread a Super Combo could be the way to go - Lane & Louden would have been an interesting combo. 2 Succesfull coaches that bring different benifits and thoughts, and from 2 clubs that have historically been pationate rivals.
Bring on Tim.
