I'm out of Canberra now (in Melbourne) and completely out of touch...

But I would assume not...

In recent years the competition has been all about Vikings and Queanbeyan, with the odd challenge from Royals or Eagles...

I don't think there's any need to expand it because of that and the size of Canberra...

Anyways, I don't seem to get the Vikings logo showing up at the bottom of my posts with Brumbies and Wallabies... is there something I'm not doing right here?

Awesome work guys,

I've just prettied up the wiki article, and changed the name from "Dewar Shield (Victoria)" to "Dewar Shield" so it will auto-link in the forums more frequently.

I'll get onto coding the new team logo's in now, hopefully will get it working tonight.

Have been reading up on the Dewar Shield, seems it's promotion / relegation so reckon we should add all the teams who contest it if possible...

Also struggling to find a list of former winners

It isn't really promotion relegation as such. If a club is competitive and has 3 senior sides then they play Premier Grade 1,2 and 3 (or Dewar Shield). However, if a club is competitive, has strong juniors and U20s then they can compete if they can find a 1 team club to substitute. For example, in recent years Southern Districts have played every junior grade, U20s, Premier 1/2 and Cerberus have competed in Premier 3 for them.

The issue with clubs moving up and down is Division 2 is nowhere near as competitive as Premier and it's often a case of finishing last with a couple of wins in Premier or getting cricket scores in Div 2.

Division 2 has previously had 3 grades but will probably only have 2 this year due to the 2 biggest Div 2 clubs moving into premier. This is bound to change if Vic rugby changes comparably to WA rugby. The bigger clubs seem to be getting bigger so hopefully the littler clubs will too, perhaps we'll also see some clubs open up is country population centers like Latrobe City. These are hindered by the fact that juniors aren't feasible though.

Also there is a country grade separate from Premier Div/ Div 2. But all the bigger country clubs are now playing in the city comp so perhaps we'll see them merge.

PS. In my experience nobody has referred to the comp as "Dewar Shield" but rather Premier 1st Grade. Dewar Shield is just the trophy one get's for winning it. Perhaps they will start calling it that in the future though.

in my opinion all the comps should be called the "Shute Shield", "John I Dent Cup", "Hospital Cup", "Dewar Shield" and "Random, Does it even have a name? plate"

Moses, the logos are getting mixed up where you have overlapping names. Wests (in the hospital cup) is now showing the Wests (John I Dent) logo.

I think it's called KWIK based on a sponsor or something.

That is correct. The KWIK Senior Comp takes its name from the major sponsor. I don't remember it having a name a la the Shute Shield previously. Our set up in WA is very similar to Victoria, BTW, with the two divisions.
