Un-Australian Activities 2020

Second consecutive week the Stormers nil their opposition Opposition containing the boot of Morne Steyn. The Stormers left 10 points out there off the tee.

Perhaps if they converted those the game might have opened up.

The Chiefs are a real bogey team for the Saders. Great defensive game by them but shame it had to be officiated by one of the worst refs in super rugby.
How Boshier's jersey grab(s) on Jordan at 74 minutes avoided a yellow card beggars belief. But for that blatant foul the Saders had a royal chance to level the score and play out the last 6 minutes against 14 men. O'keefe had been continually letting him away with not supporting his body weight so no surprises there.

Jags vs Canes HT 10-9.

Cagey and dull. Goosen a professional liability. Rushed out of the line on D every time, matadoring his outsides through. Basically 16 on 14 with him doing that.

Canes may have been a bit lucky with the pass in the lead up to the winning try but rather that than a parochial TMO stepping in off his own bat.

Comp looks wide open this year.

Dramatic finale, Canes edge it 26-23 thanx to Laumape setting up last minute winning try. Shady hometown TMO then tries to pull Canes up for a forward pass... and Rasta the ref says "no! get fucked! Can't look at them anymore you shady hometown wanker TMO's!"

It was a free-for-all down Goosens channel, where the fuck was he? Just biff him off the team bus as it goes past the Mengele's house and get Aso in there.

Didn't see Chiefs v CruSadists due to a fishing trip planned without reference to the Super Rugby schedule but did notice on the live updates that at (I think) 12-3 up approaching half time CruSadists won a scrum penalty bang in front & took another scrum instead of the easy three. Couldn't help but wonder if Mo'unga (or even Cameron) would've insisted on taking the shot. May not have affected the result but it's Super Rugby, not baa-baas so IMO you always, always, al-fucking-ways take the easy three when on offer ESP against your main rival for Conference honours.

The reffing was dodgy both ways. Crusaders got away with a yellow card offense by driving too early in the lineout after repeated penalties/warning in the first half and a very dodgy steal at what looked like a ruck when the Chiefs were attacking the Crusaders try line.

Blues vs Crusaders.

Date: Friday, February 14th.

Crusaders coming off a LOSS.

The backlash will be SEVERE.

It will surely go down in the annals of rugby history as The Valentine's Day Massacre.

No room for Akira - given how well Gibson performed starting at 7 in round 2 and how well Lamborn went in round 1 I can't blame them.

Blues forwards look useful - as always with the Blues it is the halves where it will be won/lost.

1.Karl Tu’inukuafe, 2. James Parsons, 3. Ofa Tuungafasi, 4. Patrick Tuipulotu ©, 5. Josh Goodhue, 6. Dalton Papalii, 7. Blake Gibson, 8. Hoskins Sotutu; 9. Jonathan Ruru, 10. Stephen Perofeta, 11. Mark Telea, 12. TJ Faiane, 13. Joe Marchant, 14. Jordan Hyland, 15. Matt Duffie.

16. Kurt Eklund, 17. Ezekiel Lindenmuth, 18. Sione Mafileo, 19. Tom Robinson, 20. Tony Lamborn; 21. Sam Nock, 22. Harry Plummer, 23. Emoni Narawa.

Akira didn't look like he was anywhere near match fit last week, he was in full jog mode! Wish he would take a lesson off Tom Robinson on attitude!

I agree - i'm about as big of an Akira fan as there is but he looked off the pace. Sotutu has earned the 8 jersey so far.

Bongi Mbonambi out for the season.

Herschel Jantjies highly doubtful to play on Saturday and Jaco Coetzee out with concussion for the Stormers.

Johan du Toit likely to shift to 6 with Juarno Augustus playing at 8 and Godlen Masimla at 9. Provisionally anyway.

Looking forward to seeing more of # 13 Ruhan Nel.

CHIEFS (15-1): , Adam Thomson

Adam Bloody Thomson, one of my all time favourites returns to NZ rugby at the age of 73. Good on him, cracking super rugby player - ate up the points in fantasy rugby. Never quite converted his super form to the international stage, with his most memorable moment being getting absolutely turfed by a fellow geriatric Radike Samo on his way to 2011's IRB try of the year.
