UCal drops Rugby from top tier of sports funding

I'm not surprised from UWS. I'm doing my doctorate there and from an admin perspective the place is a bloody mess.

the rugby club is run independently richo, but i know what you mean, we had our workshops out of use for a year now at kingswood. what could help them would be the rebranding (http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/fo...-have-the-UniverIty-of-Western-Sydney-renamed) but they're incredibly territorial the res and HAC boys for the rugby club

This has an interesting, and unexpected, side-effect in Australia. US universities have many and varied sports scholarships open to all comers. To get the gender balance even some Septic unis have ploughed significant resources into women's rowing, which has opened up opportunites for young elite female Australian rowers to have an education their male peers don't have the equivalent access to. There're quite a few ex-students from Pymble Ladies' College, Merton Hall, etc. paddling around North American lakes. But very few, if any, Old Boys from Shore, Scotch or Hale in the boys' boats.

Sister of a mate of mine from the Boerstocracy - whom Oom PB has met - is in the US on exactly that basis on a tennis scholarship.

I know a couple of UQ boys have been to Arizona Uni on scholarships. One of my players from this year was going to go next season but he failed some subjects and didn't qualify. I would have loved the opportunity when I was younger.

What standard of Rugby players were they to get a scholarship?
Schoolboy reps, Colts players, grade players?

GPS 1st XV and Premier Colts players. One of them was a schoolboy rep and played All American Collegiate so if you are of a good standard you should stand out.
