Gee I thought Hynes was average. He had plenty of space to score in the corner at the end but took the soft option of stepping in field. If he had half the pace that some people say he has he would have made it, especially with corner posts not being a factor. A good winger would have scored there. He also put in two very average kicks to ruin great attacking opportunities, which again may not have been needed if he had this great pace people used to mention. Even Mumm was having to slow down to stay behind him on one break.

My points from the nosebleeds go to...
3. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
2. Robinson
1. Burgess

I reserve the right to change them after watching the replay.

Given the amount of posters on here who bagged Gregan, an all time great, for years, I reckon I can pretty much write off most people on here when it comes to their judgement of halfbacks. They seem to be oblivious Giteau's deficiencies.

Burgess helps you win. He gets the ball out quickly, he's got a great running game, is a phenomenal athlete, is tough & fearless. He's amazing in defence, support and covering and all the little 2 percenters but also injects some genuine x-factor. He has a great attitude and doesn't shirk the work on or off the field. I don't see how anyone can argue we're better off without him.

i didn't post here then. i was a massive fan of gregan. right till the end.
we've been worse with Burgess as halfback. no he doesn't help you win. our backline is useless with him in it. he's not the the only problem, of course, but he is very average at this level. two years in and it's still the same with him.

did turner even touch the ball? i swear they only time i hear that guys name is when the line up is read out!
to think the money these guys get paid to play like that is sickening.

gambler,

Agree that Hynes should have finished off some of those moves or taken better options, particularly when he had AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) on the inside and kicked instead. What he did seem to do though is get involved. He was in positions where he got the ball a lot and made some breaks with it. Not sure if he was just lucky, but he certainly stood out as the most involved winger in his time on the field. Also took some good catches of the bombs.

But also put us under huge pressure by calling for that ball that was coming over his head. In cricket and in rugby it should always be the man coming forward that takes responsibility, so perhaps it was the other players fault (I think it was Gits) but Hynes made a meal of it when it was left to him.

From what I remember he made 2 breaks, both of which werent really created by him. But I havent seen a replay so I wont be too critical, just saying I dont think he has the pace to be an international winger given he doesnt offer the size option of a Tuquiri or similar. A true finisher given the opportunity he had would have scored in the corner in the final minute to win us the game and he didnt do that.

yeah watching hynes lead those breaks was a cringe-fest. he had the right idea and at least was being proactive but the execution failed horribly. geez he stuffed them up.

3. Nathan Sharpe
2.George Smith
1.Benn Robinson

Special mentions: Elsom, Burgess, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) & Berrick Barnes

Barnes would have got some points if he'd had played the 80, if he is fit next week Deans should swap him & Giteau.

-3. Giteau
-2. Brown

3. Rocky - Great effort with a lack of match fitness, should be improved next week for the run.
2. Smith - Usual standard, I don't think the captaincy effects his game like it can others, in fact, i think he should keep it.
1. Barnes - Had he stayed on, might of gone higher, was one of the few showing any composure.

All very sad but here goes:

3. Barnes (shame he is made of glass)
2. Smith
1. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) (despite his CRAP KICKS!)

other honourable mentions - Robinson, Hynes (for getting stuck in at least), Elsom (even though he is a penalty machine)

There are a few guys who should be sweating their selection this week.

The kicking game needs addressing, desperately - is 'ball in hand' rugby really that offensive to the Wallabies?

3 - Smith: Was a counter-rucking machine at one point
2 - Elsom: Showed how out of depth Brown is
1 - AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper): Dangerous in defence and attack

Hon mention to Marcia Hynes

At the game that's exactly what I thought (and posted it here somewhere as well)

Having watched the replay it's not so clear cut. He has defenders in front of him in both.

I still question his pace though

I think they are so shit scared of making a mistake or turning it over or getting a penalty they are taking the easy option - it is really pissing me off like I have never been before. AND - it is permeating all the way down to school and lower - it's a disease.
