Ah, nothing like Naza rolling out the friendly welcome mat with a polite, friendly reply to indicate that he politely did not agree with your opinion, but he still respects what you have to say.

He was not of test standard when he was dumped but I trust people aren't suggesting that he never was.

If so, their definition of test standard is bunk.

Lote started his career with plenty of promise but never fulfilled that promise. For all his talk, there were few tests where Lote dominated his AB or Bok opponent. In most cases, I'd have picked the the AB wingers in front of him and, in Habana's case at least, also one Bok winger. He is one of the most impressive athletes I have seen but, even at his best, he wasnt as good as Habana, Rok, Sivi, Rupeni, Rougerie, Clerc, S. Williams, Delasau and others. He was consistently above average for international wingers and would walk into most of the top 12 international teams, but he wasn't consistently outstanding and that is the standard I want Wallabies to be at.

IMO @ his peak he was one of the top 5 wingers in world rugby alongside Habana, Shane Williams, Rokocoko and perhaps Rougerie.

Lote didn't get off too badly. Joel Clinton got fined $50,000 from the Broncos for the same offence that Lote is to have alleged to have committed.

You wouldn't happen to be Mojo, the moronic fuckwit one eyed Kiwi sheep rapist from Whirlpool would you ? The black hole of bullshit you've posting is eerily familiar.

Scarfman, flush this turd now.
Nope, you've got the wrong Mojo there. My handle is Mojo M.A.N not Mojo. Anything else?

Ask the question, don't wait for the answer, flame the bloke and demand his account is deleted.

Welcome Mojoman.

Cutter, all I can glean from this is that you must be in a state of perpetual disappointment with the Wallabies over the past several years.
As an aside, I thought before, and still do now that he could have been much, much better if he was used much, much better. A succession of coaches got him playing a style that nullified a lot of his athletic ability for the sake of bulk and bull strength. Had he played for the ABs he would have scored many more tries I reckon.
I wish him good luck.

Jeez McCaw got himself badly out of position in that dump tackle. It wasn't pretty and Tuqiri deserved a ban (not the length he got but it was academic anyway due to it being end of season), but when you're picked up like that there aren't many things worse you can do than twist yourself around with nowhere to go. Grab the tackler, tuck your head in and hold on.

Tuqiri was never going to be the type of player he was in League when he switched over. In league he had a good 10m to run @ the defence, there was no consequence of getting stripped or turned over in the tackle and he had 2 less players on the field to deal with.

Sailor was the same, as with Cross, Tahu and Willie Carne way before them.

He started to decline when he bulked up and lost his edge in speed. (Rokocoko is going through the same thing)

I remember talking to a mate that played for one of the Broncos feeder teams, he claimed Wayne Bennett went on about how both Wendell and Lote were too fat and too slow since switching to Union.

Saying that, he was still pretty effective as a union winger.

I have accepted the bar is set lower these days for the Wallabies unfortunately! :'(

say what you want about him, but i respected the fact that he came over and put focus into his defence and giving/taking hard hits and rucks. can't say that about a lot of other league converts.

Tuqiri was a hell of a finisher who did good work in the well-drilled Wallabies attack of the Eddie Jones era. He lost pace in recent years and as the rugby field got smaller (that is, as players got fitter and defences better organised) his potency declined.

The greater loss for the Wallabies is the competitiveness and aggression he brought to Tests. I get the feeling that your average Wallaby back today, when confronted with a Richie McCaw charge, thinks Gee Mr McCaw, this is a real honour.... if I tackle you respectfully I hope you'll give me an autograph after the match. Lote's thoughts were more like Hey Richie, you my bitch.

See these two clips, one from a Tahs vs Crusaders game in 2008 and the illegal dump from a 2006 Test (first 25 sec).

MItchell, Turner, Hynes and O'Connor could all have done that just as well.

If you are going to put Willie Carne in that group you'll have to add Rod Wishart as well. Spent some time at the Brumbies in the early days.

Wishart did? Never knew that. He never played for them,at least in Super rugby though.
Carne actually played for the Reds.

This may be harsh, but from what I saw of Carne, I don't know if I would described it as "playing"...was disappointing.
