Yes. I think Fraser McReight has shown himself to be capable. Actually I hope not to be proven wrong as that would mean the depth is not there. I am a fan of both Cooper and McMahon and hope that McMahon can make a similar impact.

McReight seems to be McWrong at the moment, for some reason.

Gotta say that i am still very impressed with Cooper, still has the fastest hands in the game, Not trying to get too fancy, decent boot, defence seems fine and knows when not to pass. First time in a long time I have bothered to look at replays of previous weeks footy on Stan. Woohoo!

I don’t think so, he is just sitting behind one of the Wallabies best players and team captain, it’s hardly a reflection of him doing something wrong. At test level you can’t afford to carry an open side flanker on the bench .

Also I think McMahon is a better chance for bench simply due to his flexibility on the back row positions.

He has been playing No. 8 in the big games with some No.7 in earlier rounds.

Interestingly Kerevi has been playing 13.

Exactly what Rennie said about it. McReight is sitting behind the skipper and given we want our best 23 there is no place for a specialised #7 non the bench. Guys like Samu and McMahon cover the back row, not just open side.

Cooper is eligible without restriction as he has reached the threshold of tests played for Australia. McMahon and Kerevi are not.
My point was that we are pretty flush with back row options but with JOC (James O'Connor) injured 10 was a bit of a problem. So naturally Rennie would look OS for someone to cover there.
I agree that Coopers selection was a bit left field but he always had those silky skills. It was an inspired move on Rennies part. I dont really understand the motivation for pursuing McMahon. Hope to be proven wrong.

I think the motivation is to bring back any solid wallaby playing overseas to have a look at him. The more depth the better. I don't think it's necessarily targeting positions we lack in depth, or vice versa. I think as a coach you go to say to every player overseas "i'd love for you to come back so I can have an in-depth look at you whilst in training camp" and nothing more.

This seems to be Rennie's approach, and I think it's a good one.
