In theory, but you won't come up against many bigger packs than the Bokke and it didn't really pan out.True, but against some of the bigger, more physical teams LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is a reasonable option

I was impressed with Jones' form early in the Super Rugby season but was uninspiring at the back end. Are you sure he's up to it?Jones is a specialist blindside who can cover lock. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is the opposite.
I wouldnt be upset if Valetini starts over Jones - but i dont think it would be rewarding form (not that we do that).

You wot?
TPN is back in camp by the looks of it:

Rob Horne was a success on the wing and extended his time in the Wallaby frame. With Kerevi the better option as a crash ball/offload center and Lilo deserving an opportunity, think it would be worthwhile to stick him on a wing. A whole lot more consistent than DHP and Hodge.
The only reservation I have about Jones is that when he had his chance a few years ago, he just did not step up. He looked a bit overawed, frankly.
Maybe he is over that. One would hope so.
Was just listening to the Rugby Ruckus, Turinui reckons Dempsey is the man to give us the over the ball presence we were missing on the weekend. I tend to agree, I don't think the 5cm we lose by playing Dempsey who is a good jumper anyway and easier to lift when we already have 3 core jumpers will make an ounce of difference to the lineout.
They were also on board with the Koroibete/Beale/Banks back three although not opposed to putting DHP in his proper position of fullback and keeping Beale on the bench.
He was 23 at the time and had played close to 50 Super Rugby games. I really don't think it was too early. He debuted in a pretty cruisy home series against and underwhelming French side.
The biggest reason he didn't get a continued run was because he got completed overshadowed by Sean McMahon on the 2014 EOYT who then became the preferred player to fill the 6 jersey (and also cover other backrow positions) and went to the 2015 RWC.
He then went overseas for three seasons.
The alternative was not selecting him to play any tests. Would that have been better player management?
KOB, in a match up for over the ball No 6s, I'd go with Valetini in preference to Dempsey. Valetini also jumps in the Brumbies lineout, so there wouldn't be any diminution there and otherwise he makes more forward progress with ball in hand and hits harder in defense.
But I am not sure that the coaching staff are willing to go with only three primary lineout jumpers, so I expect one of LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) or Jones to take the No 6 spot. Of course, far better over the ball capability would be achieved if Liam Wright came in at No 7.
Didn't he get dropped from the squad? Or are he and Maddocks back in contention for this game?
They were released from the squad last week to play club rugby because they weren't required for the match, but like the others sent home I assume everyone would've rejoined the camp this week....
I’m not sure he and Maddocks weren’t originally being sized up to start in this match. Losing in South Africa may have complicated things but it wouldn’t have surprised me if Cheika was looking to get them good game time in what should be our easiest match. Things may have changed given we must win at all costs, basically.Oh OK, I just assumed that as 7 or 8 others who weren't required for the game stayed over there, and that those two weren't injured, they had trimmed down the squad by a couple. If he's in contention then sure he's an option for a bench spot this week.
