I think the ABs have been traditionally a step above most other sides which means they have been able to take the rub of the green, and a few borderline decisions out of the equation. They have come back to the pack (or been caught) and now are experiencing what the rest of us have for years.
Some games just don’t go your way - bounce of the ball, 50/50 calls. And when the clear dominance is not there anymore some of those games will get away from you. Even if you have the cattle,set piece dominance and opportunity to win.
I think that’s what happened yesterday. With a bit of panic thrown in as they’re not used to it.
I’m sure next week will be a different ball game.

Will be interesting to see what price the bookies have this game at next weekend.
Lucky for them betting on rugby isn’t very big, they had the Pumas at 10-1 the win, doubt they’ll have another tier 1 nation against the All Blacks at double digit price again, the bookies clearly been watching games pre-2020 when they set that market.

To put things in context:
a) there is a big gap between 3-South Africa and 2-France
b) there is even a bigger gap between 6-Australia and 5-New Zealand
c) Worrying for NZ is that Argentina are close to Australia. Very close. Only 1/100 th of a point difference.
The rankings add real interest in the results coming from this series:
x Hard to see Argentia not getting above Australia if they were able to repeat the last result. And a loss won't set them back far.
x An Australia loss to Springboks may well drop us behind the Pumas. A win may help tighten on NZ but what makes the big difference is Argentina winning.
x A Springbok loss is likely to see them drop behind England
x NZ may gain a position with a win, but it's not a high likelihood.

People have their complaints about their rankings but I find them a pretty solid reflection. If Argentina go up again, they deserve to sky rocket. If we can do away with SA, we're definitely a top 6 team.
Ireland and France do deserve to be on their own too up the top. Consistently the best. ABs and SA have been so flaky.

It was a Stan sport stat! They even showed the figures during the telecast. Cane and Ardie are doing very little based off the stats.

And, who the hell judges a player on stats?? Stats, well the ones they tend to use on tv are so random as to mean nothing. Hell if you looked at Richie McCaw's stats , they didn't make great reading at times, but look at the game and what he did that was meaningful, was a a whole different story.

It's not just the stats. How many breakdown turnovers has Cane won this year? Very few.
How many did the team win on the weekend? One to De Groot comes to mind. That's it.
On the other hand on the weekend they conceded a lot of ball at the breakdown (Scott Barrett in from the side, Havili sealing off, Caleb Clarke slipping over, in the second half I remember both Rieko and Jordan being isolated and turned over).
It's a big problem.

Just trying to recall a saying. Now was it that its only the truth that hurts or something about ye doth protest too much, methinks!
Either way, it was great reading for us random's, meant a lot as it showed the AB were the worst compared to the other teams and its always good to see people harping back to the past to try and obfuscate failure.

Na mate, I have said forever, my rugby club in Aus we did quite a thing of taking stats for a few games, and they were almost meaningless. The trouble with them are they may show haw many rucks/mauls a player hits, but not whether they were effective hits, or should of even been made. Tackles, they may show how many were made and missed, but not how many weren't attempted because they were a bit hard. Number of carries and metres gained are same.Someone if you only read stats wasn't that good was Richie McCaw, he missed a few tackles, because he attempted so many hard ones, he didn't hit a huge amount of breakdowns sometimes, because he was better to keep himself alive in game etc. I think the likes of George Smith etc could very well be similar. Coaches etc will use what they don't call stats (some other name) that measures effectivness of players, but in first instance they watch game to see what players do. There is a reason that selectors actually go to rugby games mate, thats to see how players actually play, and would be incredibly surprised if any looked at ESPN's (or whoever) stats!
I could see the ABs played poorly especially in 2nd half on Sat, didn't read or need stats to see they weren't reacting to Pumas breakdown work etc.
And I still believe you see a lot more at game than TV .
