Pretty sure the QLD club GF drew 5000, and that was with one of the teams(sunshine coast) support bases having to travel 120km

Second half penalties to Tuffley kept the Red Heavies out of reach, but the Stingrays never stopped trying to restore hope for the large contingent of their blue shirted supporters in the Ballymore crowd of 3,957.

touche, maybe it was last year that 5'000 turned up

I wonder if the lower crowds of both GF's could be attributed to the fact that its Uni teams representing

More the growth of super rugby, club is now 3rd or 4th tier.

1 Wallabies
2 Super
3 7s
4 Club

This is despite the rugby standard being higher, with more wallabies and other pros playing

You could argue that if it were 1999, but its 2010, professional rugby has been around 15 years now, yet this year collectively witnessed the lowest QLD/NSW GF crowds in recent history

Who was the half wit who scheduled it for the same weekend as the NRL GF? Have it the week after when there is far less compitition. It would achieve more spotlight with no league on at all.

Maybe a option is to push the whole club rugby season back a bit later, this year Super14 players were able to join club rugby from late May/early June depending on whether there team made the finals or not. In 2011, Super Rugby players will be able to join club rugby from late June/Mid July depending on finals. In 2012, with the expanded 4-Nations, Super Rugby players wont join club rugby until August, only a couple of weeks before the finals.

Why not push club rugby back so the finals are in early November, sure it will be hot, but it will be no different to the club rugby season kicking off in Feb as it does now.

the weather for the Briso one was not great. Same for Sydney.

Both were played and ancient hard to get to relics too.

I've updated our wiki with Club Rugby Attendance figures, if anyone has historical crowd numbers please advise.

I think that is a cop out in a city of 4.5 m and the final was played earlier last year with not many more. Is every rugby fan a die hard NRL supporter?

and they used to have big crowds to watch 2nd division RL in Sydney between Ryde Eastwood & Wentworthville, but times change
