I know, some of you don't like this, or don't think it will happen

If the third tier, ARC or whatever name it may comeunder ever comes back, and this is to say, not having the sydney clubs who so heavily barrack that they should be in it, what names would you give (mascots) to the various areas represented. heres a list of places i think should be made in a founding year.

Sunshine Coast
Brisbane
Gold Coast

Central Coast
Sydney
Western Sydney

Canberra

Melbourne

Adelaide

Perth

feel free to debate other issues here and what areas should be represented.

From a non-Aussie point of view and regarding the fact that most of the players are coming from the same area, I don't see the point of implementing teams in cities such as Adelaide or others (Townsville, Cairns, Darwin etc...).
Sydney and Brisbane are full of strong teams so maybe a competition between the strongest clubs of NSW and QLD is the best idea in term of level.
I'm from Paris and if someone tells me I have to represent Marseille I won't be happy... it might be the same for a Sydneysider who plays for Perth.

Divide Sydney up into Inner Sydney and Northen Beaches.

A whole heap of players would come from there and they have the right to play at a nearby team.

that was the idea behind the central coast in the original ARC. it repped up northern sydney, whilst sydney represented sydney til west harbour, and the rams repped west harbour, parra, penrith and eastwood

Perth/WA (Black Swans)
Melbourne/Vic
4 teams from Sydney - West (Rams), North, South, Central
Central Coast
NSW Country
Canberra/ACT
Plus as many teams as is practical from QLD (I'm not sure how many that might be)

I would like to see it set up based as much as possible on players playing for their "home" region. I know this is a tricky area - do we use birthplace, schooling, club affiliation, or Super affiliation? How about making recruitment legitimate as long as at least one of those four criteria is satisfied. This would mean that many players have two options, and a few have up to four options.

As for mascots/logos/emblems - I'm not really sure, but I would like to see the most traditional option used where possible ie Black Swan for Perth/WA, Tassie Devil for Tasmania (just an example as I wouldn't have a Tassie team - even though their name and emblem would be the coolest). I mention the Rams for Western Sydney only because there is a bit of a brand name built up there already.

This won't happen til we host another World Cup to get the monies to pay for all of this...but I'd back it to the hilt if it ever happens!

Maybe we have this all arse about?

Looking at the successful local competitions (NRL and AFL), they all built up the core first THEN spread out. Rugby is probably a little lucky in this regard, because we are strong in two places, so you start a comp using the existing clubs in sydney and brisbane. As that gains traction, add a team or two and consolidate on the work force, brumbies and rebels are doing in their markets.

Gold Coast squad should also include Northern Rivers of NSW. So calling it something different would be great. We feel somewhat disconnected from the rest of NSW up here and people feeling inclined to travel to the GC to watch games.

You could throw in an ACT team in that to start.
Also following on from the successful Titans and the AFL GC team model make sure the local communities have a say in team colours, name etc. Don't just throw a bunch of teams at us and expect us to follow them.

What about:

Western Sydney
Rest of Sydney
Northern Beaches/Central Cost
Brisbane
Gold Coast/Other Queensland
and the Vikings from ACT

After having to wait so long for a Super team and being the forgotten child of Aus rugby, we should call the Melbourne team, Victoria Bitter.

I always wanted either of the Perth teams (ARC or S14) to be called WASPS. Their colours are black and yellow and the name starts with WA.

Fucking simple. I'll get back to you on the rest ...

... I'm thinking a big turd shaped logo for Brisbane.

wasps would be a good one for perth, and (slightly) traditional

the brisbane turds just might work....

sunshine coast stingrays - coz that what they are now
brisbane boars - assonance and wild pigs are everywhere in oz, good strong name
gold coast Kraken - dunno, just thought it was a cool thing and added it to the gold coast.

Central Coast pirates - seemed fitting enough
Sydney spiders?- couldnt really come up with anything good and relevant, decided sydney is knwon amongst other things for funnel webs
Western sydney rams - the best brand from the previous ARC and should be continued.

Adelaide Galahs - just thought as a frontier team they should have cool bright colour and a jersey, bright pink is close to scarlet red.

Two competitions would be the go.

Canberra
Brisbane South side
Brisbane North side
Gold Coast
Western Syndey
Inner Sydney
Northern Sydney
Central coast.

The second comp which would be lower standard and a feeder for the upper comp would be.

QLD country
NSW country
ACT / Southern highlands
Victoria
South Australia
Western Australia
Northern Territory

This would create a chain for the talent to rise and provide a good method of identifying talant from various backgrounds. I mean no disrespect to the schools but a lot of talent slips through the web as there are potentially good players out there with no affiliation with a school. As to the logo, colors and jersey, empower the local community to select these.
