I think Damian Fitzy has played well at the Tahs.Good style of bloke with all the attributes.

He has held off the others and seems to be the favoured one.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him elevated into the Wallabies.

Re: Folau, NZ's salary cap is significantly less than Oz & I can't see NZRU allowing him to be signed as a Marquee Player so he'd have to take a huge pay cut.

It's not about money, it is about his partner's sporting career. Just a guess on my part, but he did hint at something like this in an interview I saw.

I do actually think Simmons best position was 6. Still should be nowhere near the Wallabies Squad but I have hope Tui could be an option at 6.
His too slow.. Hooper and Poey would have to work extra hard

Could just live there and get cashed up for the short japanese seasons and leave it at that. If higs pulled a mil for a season there, sure folau could.

Yeah, she's likely putting a lot of pressure on him to to move to NZ -- I don't think unreasonably, he could easily work anywhere in Australia, New Zealand or Europe. She can only really work in New Zealand.

Maybe not pressure, maybe Izzy wants her to be as happy and contented as she can be - he has had a very good run in his sporting career, he might think that it should be her career that gets the emphasis after they are married. A bit like Ellyse Perry and Matt To'omua.

Except Ellyse Perrr's professional sporting career is in Australia and To'omua moving to England meant them living apart for large parts of the year

The pressure doesn't necessarily need to be active -- her telling him 'You need to do XYZ for me!' her just working in NZ is going to put pressure on him to move to NZ because she can't really move to Australia.

I prefer to give Izzy the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I am not as cynical as some.

I beg to differ. She has played pro cricket in the UK.

She has since he moved, but in relation to your initial comment, he didn’t move because or her sporting commitments, she has made her commitments work around him.

‘He will move at some stage this year, he’s still got rugby commitments here for the next bit,’ she explained. ‘I’ll spend a bit of time in England, but still play all of my sports in Australia

‘Maybe for a little bit of our winter actually, I’ll be there in England’s summer,’ she added. ‘It works out well.’

Izzy has 62 Wallaby caps meaning he's eligible under Giteau's law to play overseas and still be picked. Whether he plays in Kiwi land, Japan or even the UK, the ARU/Cheika can still pick him and not be hypocritical or open the flood gates.

Bit of a moot argument to be frank.

I’m calling the Simmons-Hooper-Pocock back row the SHoCock.

It’s possibly the worst back row combination I’d want to see and fittingly not something for public places.

A 4-5 playing 6, a 6/12 playing 7 and a 7 playing 8. With zero metres gained in tight. Give me Tui-Pocock-Timu (if pocock is in form)

If you're not playing Hooper at 7 you could justify going with a multitude of alternatives at 6, you aren't locked into a lineout jumping battering ram like Tui. You'd be more justified picking the much improved Hanigan or Korczyck who's been very effective for the Reds. You could even play someone like Higgers at 6 (I couldn't think of anyone kicking around at the moment who is remotely like Higgers).

So pretty sure Pocock just showed he's much better than Hooper! And it's his first game.

I actually think he might actually be better under the new laws, because it's harder for those random jonny on the spot turnovers to happen.

Take the blinkers off, only thing tonight showed is that we have 2 amazing backrowers. There was nothing between the two, Pocock took some amazing turnovers at critical times but Hoopers overall game was more prominent. Two of the best moments of the game was Pococks turn over when Tahs in the 5m zone and Hoopers defensive read on a second man play where he belted the guy behind the gain line and resulted in a turn over.

We are so lucky to have two of the world finest at our disposal.

Hooper had one nice read, otherwise was largely anonymous the whole game.

They had almost identical run meters, carries offloads etc. Hooper had 12 tackles to Pococks 9. But the big difference Pocock actually hit rucks (and would suck in 2-5 Waratahs by doing so) and would steal ball (regardless of how many Waratahs were in the ruck).

No doubt the Brumbies played like ass, you can win a game where your leader just goes and gets you the ball and within 15 seconds you give it right back. Also you can't go backwards against the Waratahs Scrum. So the Waratahs were the better team yes. But Pocock had a much better game than Hooper.
