Bastard. :mad::)

I picked the worst two weekends this year. Both times it dumped before I arrived and after I went. And now i seems to be falling in buckets.

[Short term thread derailment] I work weekends instructing at Thredbo. Done 9 seasons now. Was a good season too - I had the best day of the season off as I played the Jindabyne old boys in a charity match that afternoon, so I got 2.5 hours of awesome skiing in before grabbing the kit and heading down the mountain - it was my idea of heaven with skiing and rugby on the same day!

Who knows what they'll do with the Argentina away game, since it's a 9am kick off. Don't want it distracting viewers from their precious Footy Shows. Shit belongs on the Comedy channel IMO.

Good to see they are delaying it again this week, so I can watch the AFL finals again before switching across to watch the replay* of the wannas.
Might I suggest others do the same and mention it on the web - advertising and freeing up the time to watch the AFL finals is consequence nine wouldn't want! (and don't watch the nrl, it just encourages them)

* I'll actually watch a recorded replay as the AFL game will finish a bit after the replay starts and I can then skip all the ads nine will stuff in ;)

I'd rather have my eyes burned out with hot pokers than sit through a game of AFL.

Eyes for the AFL or eyes, ears (hadley) and brain for the NRL, it's your choice :D
Having said that, I think the hardest game to watch tonight will be the wannas, cause we (the royal one) are going to get steam rolled ala a samoan scotish fishy toad in the hole.

Fortunately I won't have to worry about any AFL or NRL soiling my conscience Da Munch, I'll be at the test match watching a real game :)
Nor do I share your pessimism, Wallabies by 15 with a bonus point tonight!

I hope you are implying that CH9's effort is a joke, not that the Footy Shows are actually funny.

The panel format of the Sunday shows keeps them fresh, topical, sophisticated and very often, totally hilarious. The guest lineup is always excellent and well informed across the whole spectrum of culture, sport and politics.

Let me guess, Mark Geyer was sitting next to you when you wrote that.

Well you could beat them by actually attending Karl?

Would have if I could have. Family responsibilities precluded that. Had it been a day game I could have gone. But that won't rate.

Of course, a delayed telecast starting at 10pm won't rate either but Fuckheads like Channel Nein don't get that and the ARU are clueless.

But it's a family friendly game, plenty of kids there last night. They love it!

Yes - it was was pleasing to see a goodly number of kiddies at the game. It's a fine venue for smaller kids: i.e not a painful to get out of as Suncorp.

Can I just kick in and say, the only Channel 9 programming I watch is the AFL Footy Show, which is quite good. I haven't watched the NRL Footy Show or any NRL on 9 since about 2007.

Apologies in advance for the non PC rant, but....

The Footy Show is insulting to a persons intelligence, I actually held out hope when Matty Johns started his show on Ch10 that it would be invigorating and a stimulating insight into the NRL....I was proven wrong

I don't consider myself an overly intelligent person, yet I honestly can't see how mature aged adults enjoy that dribble, it's almost as though the target audience is 13-17yr olds..

You can see the calibre of those who watch the show when they pan to the crowd... Inbred hicks... It's surprising the shows main sponsor isn't Centrelink... They need to run anti domestic abuse commercials through the ad breaks.

It's the same people who enjoy that crap who then go out and get in fights at junior rugby league matches.. 3 brawls involving the crowd at 3 different locations at Brisbane JUNIOR rugby league games over the weekend.

I enjoy the athletic brilliance displayed in the NRL, I despise the socio-economic stereotype(which evidently isn't a stereotype) which ferments itself in the game as a whole..

So, what happens to their league deal when Nine goes down the gurgler?

Years ago the four football codes ended up with one FTA broadcaster each, was it AFL at 7, league at 9, rugby at TEN and local soccer and club rugby at the ABC? Without running foul of the ACCC why can't the broadcasters and sports bodies realise it's in their collective interests to end up with a scenario like this? If SANZAR rather than the ARU sold rugby rights in the SH the Aussie bloke on SANZAR's broadcast rights committee needs a kick up the clacker. For anyone involved in selling the SH rugby broadcast rights to allow a FTA station to snap up rugby rights merely to keep it away from other broadcasters while protecting their audience as they show a competing event is reprehensible. Especially as it's 9 who, greedily, want the RWC and the Lions tour.

Not good enough, SANZAR and ARU.
