People are getting ahead of themselves with young Sam Lane. His debut was memorable, he looks to have a well rounded game and a good temperament, and he definitely has potential to be around top class footy for a while. BUT.... at present he is behind the likes of Lucas and Harris, so really, there shouldn't be any room for him in the 22 when all the squad is available for selection. He will have his day again, and I hope it is with the Reds when that day comes.

And catch the high ball. Which is where he seemed most fragile last year in the republic, in terms of being a fullback. Still, trial by fire and he was reasonably solid.
Couldn't be any worse than Davies or Morahan in that department.

But who are we kidding, Cooper will be playing at 15 defensively when he comes back anyway. It won't matter how good Harris or whoever is for positional play or under the high ball!

I disagree with Harris not having the speed for fullback, as long as you have decent positional play you don't need to be an out and out speedster.
I'll disagree with you there Scotty. Without pace at 15 one must have a player able to step and beat opponents otherwise you have a one trick pony at 15 and all you will get is kick return. A counter attacking side will exploit this as they kick deep and send a pacey player to pressure the 15 into his usual kick, quick throw and the retreating defenders will all be offside as the slow 15 struggles to put them onside.

Sorry just don't see Harris as 15.

A player like Harris at 15 only works when you have Cooper dropping back to counter, otherwise don't bother.

Agree with the Lucas comment but Lane is a natural 10 whereas Harris is not. Harris needs to be in the side, at least for nothing more than his kicking. Can lane cover any other spots ???

Pretty sure I've seen the No. 12 against his name in some of the teamlists that have been posted involving Lane, but Reds are more than covered in that position, with Tapuai and Fainga'a as well as Harris.

The bye could not have come at a better time. Players back will be an added bonus, but the opportunity to rest some bodies at roughly the halfway mark is just what the doctor ordered.

Looks like the run just got tougher. Is it confirmed that Tapuai has busted his collarbone. He will be a significant loss to an already depleted backline. When is Ant Fainga'a due back?

Genia needs to be dropped, he is so out of form its not acceptable anymore. Morahan and Davies need to go aswell, its just a shame Toua and F'Sautia are injured. Samo shouldn't start another game this season either, has no impact whatsoever. Backrow needs to be Robinson/Gill/Higginbotham with Shatz on the bench. Simmons is another who needs to go. We can't keep making injury excuses, there are players out of form and they should be dropped because of it.

Yes, Taps is broken. I will see what I can find out about the return of Ant.

Have to agree with Genia and Davies, imagine they have no history with the team and the last 3 games were their first three games of their career, you would drop them to club rugby and then try to bring them back at a later date.
