It's not like the barmy army have any original chants anyhow, they just re-image football chants which in turn are usually sung to the tune of old standards like 'you'll never walk alone and' & ' winter wonderland' which themselves are 50 odd years old.

As for the rebel-army I think that they are doing a bang-up job and if I was not snacking on my gourmet bbq in the Weary Dunlop club I'd be down there enjoying myself with them. They are exactly the kind of fan-led procactve dudes the Australian rugby needs more of. Kudos to the rebel-army.

The key is to have someone loud, passionate and charismatic to lead, the rest will follow

I'm loud, that cannot be denied, and my voice travels.
Passionate... in the bedroom, maybe not, but in the stands, lets hope so...
Charasmatic - Ok, need to work on that...

My added bonus is in fact a missing feature. Shame, and dignity.
Long gone. Happily will make a fool of myself... AGAIN...

Got some face painting in the wings, and the Rebels themselves love it.

Vuna asked for his own fan site on Friday night. Laurie Weeks wants his own song like Vuna... And Cipriani isn't an A-hole much to my surprise... happily came and chatted with us on Friday night.

Trav put his hand up on Friday night, almost pulled a vocal cord.

Trav put his hand up on Friday night, almost pulled a vocal cord.

Out of practice. Only one quaver. memory usually pretty good, but with yelling, i like it simple, and loud.

Not enough beer is my excuse for that quaver, was driving.

No excuses at Ballarat on saturday, even Gagger should here me.

I reckon The Rebellion would be a better name than the Rebel army. But i'm not in it so it doesn't really matter.

Actually smartarse has a bit of a point. I enjoy the drinking and yelling at the TV/players on the field during a game, part of the fun if you are around your friends (since I live in Canada and don´t have many rugby playing friends, it just scares them a bit), but I also like watching while using my brain. Trying to figure out tactics, see how different players are doing, what will happen next, also part of the enjoyment.
However, even way up here the Rebel Army has gotten me excited about the upcoming season and having lived in Melbourne for a bit, I´m pumped to see some Melbourne sports passion being brought to the new rugby team. When I make it back down under I´m definately stopping by the Turf Bar to see what´s up.

@ Canadian By all means! inclusive to the limits. We are all about having fun, and bringing some atmosphere.

Imagine the ashes without the Barmy Army...

We all have varying knowledge and interests in the game. I'm just a student of the game myself. Starting to play this year Shameless Plug to Rebel Army Site and my blog inside

but we have ex-pats, locals, people who have followed for years, people who are just getting into it.

All are welcome to come down, have a beer, have a laugh, and if you want have an incomprehensible scream at the field.... :)
