Weird. My actual comment got cut off. I didn’t say I don’t think so
I had typed but seemingly deleted, I don’t think they get behind winning rugby beyond the die bards of the game when it’s played like that.
Casual fans who don’t really watch will be excited the wallabies are good again but how many new admirers of the game did the brumbies bring in?
I would be pleased to be winning but gees I’d struggle to watch Jake ball if that’s what he produced. It was dire early 2000s stuff. I’d want to see his game plans have evolved beyond that vs a pig headed stuck in mud approach that doesn’t change.
I get the thought re him but I’d like to think we can do better tho I’m less and less sure.
Its called bandwagon jumping for a reason, they get on the train when its winning. Jake White played some brilliant attacking rugby, he just didn't try and do it from his own 22. The years he coached they scored more open-field tries than any other Australian team.. but this narrative it was boring and is a way of discrediting how they played and his coaching.

He really had them humming. Anyway there's been no indication his even interested in the shitshow that is Australian rugby.. why would he b..

Has there been an indication he hasn’t evolved? Or are you just assuming that based on his previous style?

I actually think White is the kind of coach the Wallabies and rugby media need right now.

Eddie was a clown, we don’t need that showmanship and jamming it up with reporters. I feel like Cheika whilst not being as heavy handed would provided a similar media presence and that will wear thin quickly on the fan’s particularly if we aren’t winning.

White’s demeanour is much more measured.
I have no evidence either way. I would like to see that his play has evolved or is dynamic tho. That’s what I’m saying.

Agree re his personality. Eddie was an idiot.
Cheika much better and a bit less of an issue there for me other than his end of contract issues with raelene etc

If you lose by one point against Ireland and France, then that shows you will most likely beat teams like Wales. And that showed with Rennie.

If you lose 30 -40 points against good teams, then that shows you'll struggle against lower ranked teams. And that showed with Jones, we lost to Wales, fiji, and were celebrating wins against Georgia lol.
Does it?? The Ireland team everybody keep mentioning Rennie's close lose was no where near full strength. Jack Crowley was starting his first game in 10 jersey, Jimmy O'Brien 1 test cap, Stuart McCloskey less then 10 caps. So you had a 9/10 combo who never played together and wouldn't have even trained much as the 10 was a late injury replacement. Two other rookies in the backline and Foley still failed to take advantage.

Name not getting a mention on here who would be ideal is Leo Cullen, 1 Heineken Cup, 4 URC, only signs one year deals with Leinster. Would understand the Australian rugby landscape cause it's the same as Ireland. Understands central contracting. Coaching record, 220 games with 78% win record.

Your not going to have enough money for O'Gara, and his not going to leave Europe. His wife wants to be close to home. No Aussie coach is up to standard. And Cheika is a quick fix coach who has not had extended success with any international side.

I dont know who was playing in that game, but losing by one point against them over there is a great achievement to what's happening now. Even O'Driscoll during the World Cup said ' this Australian team is a lot different from the obe who came over a year ago'

The Scotland team also had no Hogg, no Harris or Jones, no Russell or Hastings, no White, no Sutherland and neither of the Grays, all of whom would have comfortably been best XXIII if available. While Sione established himself as first picked 12 that Autumn, both Johnson and Redpath would've been considered ahead of him at that point in time.
