When you guys come our way we ensure the sun shines.
And you return the favour 18 knot southerly and rain.
A pitty, great events like the Pacific Island Day should never be ruined by the weather, clubs need these days to run perfectly - lets hope the forecast is wrong. Still dont know what time the other grades are kicking off.

Normal time according to the NSWRU website ie
4ths 10:45am
3rds 12:00pm
2nds 1:25pm

Forecast from the Bureau: Cloudy. Widespread showers, heavy at times, easing during the afternoon. Possible thunderstorms in the morning and early afternoon. Winds south to southwesterly 35 to 55 km/h.

How's the pitch looking? Still on?
The rain is bucketing down here a few kilometres from the ground. Belly sent a SMS about 45 minutes ago saying the main game has been brought forward to 3:45pm. I'll be heading down to the ground about 9:30. If I get any news I'll update here.

The weather ended up not being too bad. (chilly ,but not to wet )

The result in 1st grade was fantastic , well done Parra

Really enjoyed the pacific day.

The fire dancers were impressive ( if i was to give that a go i would have no eyebrows )

I wont have to eat for the rest of the weekend. As the servings of the pacific island foods sold were huge, and delicious

Well done for putting on a great day

Manly won 1st. Colts 70-3.

A very good win by a very good team. Parra were aggressive and competed with the MMM in the first ten minutes and it took some good defence to keep control. Parra had first chance at points with a penalty but soon after their No.13 who only minutes before had made a strong run was red carded for a dangerous tackle on the Manly 10. From there Manly slowly took control through there forwards. With some very uncommon errors from some terrible passing the Marlins led 21-3 at half-time. As the second half wore on Parra gave the Manly backs too much room and the No. 10 controlled his back line well.

Manly were very good all over the park - strong and mobile forwards who controlled the breakdown and a back line with pace and skill. Parra played most of the game with 14 players but this may have made the score blow out but Manly were not going to lose this game.

Only sad point came with two serious injuries - one to Parra and one to Manly. Came from the one strong run by the Manly winger who ran through the Parramatta winger and appears to have broken the Parra boys collarbone and then was caught in a glorious tackle by the Parra fullback and suffered a serious knee injury.

Best for Manly were the No.10, no.6 and no.9. Best for Parra their no.2, no.12 and no.15.

Despite the result (from a Marlins' perspective a shocker but that is for another thread) and the weather it was a good day at Granville. Found my hot South Pacific food and I can report they serve Resch's at Merrylands RSL.

Interested in Colts summary above with Sam Lane again apparently suffering recurrence of his right knee injury there would be a more than respectable argument if he is relaxed about it to promote Reece Hodge to 10 in first grade ( Dave B perhaps you might want to take this up on Marlin's thread).

Thoomo's match report (First Grade), Chip Carroll's match report (Reserve Grade) and Steve Tuckwell's reports (Colts) are available on the club website together with hundreds of match photos and a few videos of the performers at Pacific Day.

Loved the segment on Rugby HQ tonight.
It was pretty good wasn't it. Great to see Muncher being interviewed but I was a little disappointed that the volleys segment ended on the cutting room floor, perhaps Fox were concerned that there may have been some sort of commercial impediment to including it.

Explanatory note: Tafu and the Fox video crew recorded a brief segment on Muncher's Dunlop Volleys. He always wears a pair to training and I am reasonably sure that they may well have been purchased when Muncher first started playing for Parra 44 years ago. He has a more recent pair he keeps for matchday.

You are very lucky to have a Wallaby who's blood is light and dark blue.

Many of the Rockstar Wobs are WIIFM and seem to have stuff all time for where that came from. Not TPN. A real diamond.

As Glen Christini has noted, the Mighty Two Blues won 3 from 4 in Grade, 2 from 3 in Colts and the Womens' match today. Six from eight is a positive reinforcement of how far the Two Blues have come in a couple of years.
