I assume you don't also post on PR. Do you mind if I use that attachment elsewhere? Wondering about the date of the publication. Is it the official up-to-date version?

No, G&GR only, still learnin' the ropes. Feel free to use it anywhere, it's the current SANZAR official media guide, no updates have been sent and the official tables each week have reflected these rules.

I've taken the relevant bits from a SANZAR media release that actually came from ARU. I missed it so apologies for misleading you in posts above. What makes NO SENSE is why it is marked not for publication.

SANZAR ADVISORY

NOT FOR PUBLICATION

1 Amendment to Super Rugby Tournament Regulations

SANZAR has amended the Super Rugby Tournament Regulations governing tie-breakers on the respective Super Rugby Conference and Overall points tables.

Whereas there were previously two sets of regulations, one for determining table positions of tied teams during the Conference phase and another for determining teams qualifying for the Finals (as published on Page 9 of the 2011 Super Rugby Media Guide), SANZAR has adopted one Regulation that will apply to both phases of the Super Rugby tournament.

Therefore, if two or more teams are equal on points in any position on either the Conference or Overall Super Rugby standings at any time during the regular season their ranking will be determined by the following steps:

Six teams will qualify for the Super Rugby Finals at the end of the regular season, as follows:

• Most wins from all matches
• Highest aggregate points difference from all matches
• Most tries from all matches
• Highest aggregate difference in tries for and against from all matches
• Coin toss (this will only be used to determine Finalists)

VV at TSF tweeted Greg Peters, the CEO of Sanzar about the discrepancies between the Media Guide you posted, and the tie break criteria Peters posted on his twitter feed (referenced earlier on this thread. His response:

So I got another response back on twitter I asked him which set of conditions was correct his or the media guides, his response was

GPRUGBYCEO said:
my one it was changed to make it consistent for both conferences and total log after media guide was published

So as of now, according to the Sanzar CEO, the official tie breakers are

1) competition points
2) most wins from all matches
3) points differential
4) most tries
5) difference tries for vs against
6) coin toss
