there is nothing wrong with it, on the back of one of Big Dells books it claims his switch to Rugby Union, made rugby one of the highest rating and supported games in the world but also made officials uncomfortable and led to his eventual break from the sport. (or along those lines) one of the funniest things ive read.

Come-on. No ghost writer would be that dishonest. Surely they just stuck to the script of him being every journalists wet dream and gloss over him being the ARU's greatest mistake ever.

Actually I'm getting wound up and angry now.

Dell really was the worst player ever to lace up his boots for Australia. But after a generous million dollar poach by the ARU, they had no choice but play him, until he could be quietly dropped, without a loss of their own face (and slightly over-generous salaries)

There is Rocky the rugby player. When in form a very good one at that. Then there is Rocky the person and trouble just follows him everywhere. I blame the ARU for the latter as he has not been forced to earn a fucking thing since they roled out the red carpet for him to come home. He is probably not the only one that would have to deal with a potential messiah complex if spoon fed like he has been.

For the most part I have been a Deans supporter over his tenure with the Wallabies but the way Elsom has been handled makes a total hypocrite out of him. What happened to such things said by him like "nothing lasts forever". He has made a mockery of his own words.

I could not give a toss if he doesn't speak well publically. I would rather watch paint dry than listen to some of the past wallaby captains whom are greats of the game. Rocky strikes me as a shy sort of a bloke and it comes as no surprise that he is very private. He was in Darwin earlier this year for the Brumbies trial and he was modest and polite to us and the rest of the fans when we met the players. He looked tired (flown to Gove and back earlier that day for development work) but apart from that he was a gentleman to those he interacted with.

I hate the way the ARU have spoon fed him but as for the bloke himself, I have no beef.

As for books, Gregan's book was the most self centered egotistical book I have read from a rugby player. I respected the bloke far more before I read it than after I had finished it.

All I want is for Rocky to have to earn his stripes like every other player.

I reckon Rocky has earnt his stripes just like every one else. There seems to be this assumption that he is resting on the laurels of being the the best player in the northern hemisphere (that other half of the world) a few years ago. This season he has been sidelined the whole season. As a coach you are going to run him in training and decide if he is still the best option. And Deans has done that and decided that. I don't believe he is a certain for our blindsided flanker, but for as long as he remains our best player in that position, he is going to remain there. In fact he even deserves the chance to have couple of bad games to grow back into his potential role. Deans gave him that opportunity, last week he just played merely above average, this week well, he didnt even have a couple of bad games just to warm him back up to international level.

"I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I'm selling? No. Do I know what I'm doing today? No. But I'm here, and I'm gonna give it my best shot." Hansel, Zoolander - sound familiar?

untrue:
im gunna say it once and i dont want there to be any more disscussion on it because the very mention of his name devalues the gold jersey.
sam norton knight
connonely > we were out muscled and out enthused by england forwards in that world cup so your not entirely to blame for that debarkle... however the fact that you thought the australia a game was so important you decided to leave barnes in that team and play sam norton knight in a test in sydney (v wales i believe) was the single worst decision by a wallaby coach i can think of.
an utter disgrace and an embarrassment for which you will never recover

I remember a story from when Rocky first came to the tahs from the bulldogs about how he used to eat a whole chicken a day (presumably cooked). The imagine of Rocky devouring a chook at a sitting has stuck with me ever since, until I heard about this book.

rocky is the fuckin man
for years we have whinged that the australian forwards are to soft. we have been the laughing stock of the world as weve always had the best backs but our forwards havnt been tough enough. the bigger stronger kiwis and saffas have often pushed us around
too many private school boys they would say
rocky is the baddest scariest mother fucker in the team he is dominant figure who wont take no shit from nobody
ill never forget how mortlock was fishhooked by ricky January in a test a few years back and he jus copped it> the smallest player in the saffa team bullied our captain... this is how opposition teams played us...
can u imagine a player trying that on the rock? i dont fuckin think so>
i want our captain to be the baddest fucker on the park> i want other teams to be scarred of us>
although i dont wanna see players get sent off id rather see them fight back and belt someone rather than concede dominance.
i want us to be ruthless i want players to call in sick on gameday so they dont have to play the australians
i want referees to say " yes rocky, how high rocky... should i give him 10 rocky?"
rockys releasing a book? hes a captain in a wc year, of course he fuckin is
the writer talks him up as a saviour? of course he fuckin should
my only issue with the book is it seems show him as an angel by glossing over all the bad ass shit hes done like killing people and eating children and all the jail time hes served
