I think it's a shit idea.
However, most people thought T20 was a joke. Look where that ended up....
Money made it work.
(I still think it sucks, so call me an old fart).

I have no idea what the article says, but if this is still being considered how on earth is it going to work without IRB approval? All the players, officials and stadiums used will need to be outside of IRB control.
It really seems a doomed idea that is being pushed out of spite.
There are a host of ultra modern stadiums in SA waiting or wanting big events to pay their due like Cape Town Green Point Stadium.Stadiums wont' be a problem will they? Surely SARU don't own/run all the stadia in SA so the IPL wannabes be able to tick that box.

Rugby can only destroy themself. Go back to the first qoute, the Erasmusse just want to give money back to the SH players to let them stay at home.
Party at Cape Town Stadium

The celebration - planned for the end of August - was announced in Cape Town in Wednesday by Morne du Plessis, chairperson of SAIL STADEFRANCE, the operators of the Cape Town Stadium and the Green Point Park Precinct.
Du Plessis said the "party" - scheduled for August 27, 2010 - would feature the Cape Town kick off of the PSL season, with a double-header soccer game reminiscent of the spectacular success of the Cape Town Stadium as venue for the Soccer World Cup.
Other events in the pipeline for the stadium include a Bafana Bafana match, a football charity event in December, a North v South football festival in February 2011, the hosting of one leg of the Vodacom Challenge football tournament and a pre-season warm-up between Guinness Premiership club Saracens and the Stormers.
The stadium is also planning to host the SA leg of the IRB World Sevens Series which is usually hosted in George.
There are also plans to host a Tri-Nations match next year, as well as Varsity Cup matches and the popular Cape Town Tens extravaganza.
Three music events have been confirmed, the details of which will be announced by the promoter in due course.
SAIL STADEFRANCE chief executive Purshoth Chetty said they were planning on hosting 20 events in 2011. Seven will be "full capacity" events attracting 40 000 to 55 000 people, eight will be "large" events (20 000 to 40 000) and five "medium" events, catering for less than 20 000 people.
Du Plessis confirmed the final attendance figures for Cape Town Stadium during the Soccer World Cup.
A total of 1 822 873 fans were counted, and were broken down into Stadium (507 332), Fanfest (558 159), Fanjols (175 469) and Fanwalk (581 913).
A total of R13 089 940 was spent by fans on food and beverages at the stadium, amounting to R25.79 per person on average.
