3 TPN - certifiable nutjob on the field, but made a difference.
2 Pakalani - for really turning it around. Good with the ball, made some good tackles (esp the one on Masaga who had beaten 4 before him)
1 Kepu - thought he scrummed well, was good in general play too.

Achievement award to pak'o'llamas who had a strong game despite my constant bemoaning of him

Another poor finish from the Tahs.

3. Tatafu Polota-Nau
2. Afa Pakalani
1. Sekope Kepu

Others: Drew Mitchell (okay but kicked away vital possession in the dying minutes) and Kurtley Beale (good in attack but too often tempted to put the ball on the toe)

Groucho

Greg Davis (50)
3. Nau
2. Beale
1. Mitchell

But Nau does seem to be obviously hurt - he just keeps going down, then literally throws himself back in the action. Should have been replaced.

3. TPN -- although I was screaming for him to go off sooner than I would have liked.
2. Mitchell -- strong running and made some good tackles too.
1. Beale -- adjusted well to 5/8, some beautiful inside balls.

Honorable mention to Kepu -- strong in the scrums and put some great hits on too.

This is the second match I've seen TPN wander around the SFS while wounded, on the earlier occasion last year Hickey finally dragged him off before he broke down completely. Why, oh why won't Hickey take him off when he's visibly hurt? This new Super rugby format cries out for players to be rested while the whole squad's used. Managing playing time doesn't seem to be one of Hickey's stronger points.

I honestly can't believe the love for TPN in this game. He did a few good things but limped around most of the game and made no impact in defence because he was standing on the wing most of the time.

3. Mitchell
2. Pakalani
1. Beale

No points to the forward pack, other than the good scrums they were outmuscled for the most part by an average Chiefs pack.

3. Carter - extraordinary number of purposeful involvements throughout 80 minutes
2. Polota-Nau - drove himself to a standstill
1. Pakalani - the kid was very impressive.

I still for the life of me can't work out what the Waratahs game plan is or has been for the last few weeks. There is no purpose and no spark. They need to discover both very quickly or they are going to have a very disappointing season.

Honorable mention to Taf for playing with what it looks like to be an recurrence of an old injury despite what others said about him playing beyond his limits...few times he was feeling it after a scrum...I think it couldn't be just fatigue.

The Tah's good defence masks the rabble they are as an attacking team.

Bruce, I think they use the "Schoolboy Selection Trial Game Plan" in which everyone hogs the ball and then tries the miracle pass or kick.
