Damn fine game of footy.

Michael Hooper was immense. Dennis was better than he has been recently, but Hooper seemed to be in charge, and more inspirational out there.

How is Jacpot?

well i think that i've been answered by some players. but only because it was at home - fatcat is one. i actually saw dennis do something, as well as captain and manage the ref!

it was a great game, good high scoring game and i thought really evenly placed for most of it.

Tahs fans would be happy with that......plus Will lasted a whole game. Hopefully he continues to improve cause he could be an AB killer. Heard his brother is younger and already bigger at 135kg...dinosaur scary!

4 quick observations:
  • vast improvement by the Tahs in the handling dept. The basic skill set is there, patience has been a very undervalued virtue
  • anytime you come back from 24-7 is worth celebrating, especially when your opposition is on a 4 game roll
  • although the 'Canes scored 30 points against us, we didn't concede a try after the 27th minute
  • I'm a fan of Perenara but he'll see plenty of improvement opportunities after blundering a try from set piece early in the 2nd half & then his petulant backchat gifted the Tahs' a late 9 point lead

I suspect Steve Walsh will not have grown his fan-base East of us too much. Fuck, the Tahs give me an ulcer with their brainfartedness that almost completely fucked them tonight. Good tries to get back.
Hooper is immense, Skelton provided good input from the bench, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) good too.
Need to tighten up as the season gets sweatier.

i thought steve walsh had a great game and i wish for more like that
Good comeback for the tahs. As a neutral i felt walsh was ordinary letting the tahs get away with a fairbit. Classic where they replayed hoopers try saving tackle with kearnsey blowing a load and then went quiet when evident hooper never released. But home team usuaally gets the benefits across the board so nothing sinister. I usually rate pirenara but he had some brain farts that costed his team. Gave away a penalty followed by coming out of the line and giving away the try. Then mouthing off. not cool.

Assuming TJP gets picked for the ABs as #3 halfback, Hansen & co will not tolerate that sort of bs. He's got to learn it's the captain's job to manage, not some yappy, full of himself halfback.

Really good win by the Tahs. Possibly their best of the season. The Canes weren't bad and had won four in a row.

We were well and truly at fault for letting them get out to a 24-7 lead but the comeback was superb.

The Tahs remain right in the mix.

Interestingly, if the Highlanders beat the last placed Stormers tonight, I'm pretty sure the Canes go from 1st to 5th in the NZ conference in the space of a weekend.
