Anyone get out there and have a sticky beak today?

A try on fulltime by the Junior Waratahs gave them a 28-27 victory over the QAS Reds 2nd XV in their return match in Sydney today.

Queensland were leading in the dying stages of the match but a series of penalties gave the momentum to the home side and they capitalised with a try on the bell.

Reds 2nd XV coach Paul Carozza said despite the disappointing final score the young Reds acquitted themselves well in windy conditions.

"It was actually a really good game, despite the result. The boys can be pleased with their effort in difficult conditions," Carozza said.

Reds wing Blair Connor flew back from New Zealand after coming off the bench in the QR Reds match against the Chiefs to play in the Sydney match, as did QAS Reds Academy back Ben Tapuai, a reserve against the Chiefs.

Tapuai claimed a try for the 2nd XV as did flanker Lei Tomiki and Norths' centre Michael Bond, a member of the Reds' wider training squad.

Flanker Andrew Shaw played strongly for the 2nd XV as did Reds prop Jack Kennedy, Academy flyhalf Jono Lance, playing at inside centre, and Brothers back Dallan Murphy, who claimed 12 points off the boot.

Junior Waratahs 28 def QAS Reds Academy 2nd XV 27 (Lei Tomiki, Michael Bond, Ben Tapuai tries, Dallan Murphy 3 con, 2 pens) in Sydney

The result meant the Junior Waratahs won the interstate challenge 2-0 after claiming the opening match at Ballymore 18-14

Apparently Nadalo got 4 tries. Havent seen it but I can already hear the calls for him to be on the wing and Anessi out of the team.

Any details of the Jr Waratahs point scorers? Is that a quote from the Reds website or something?

yeah its from the Reds

here's what the Tahs site said (get prepared for the flood gates of support for the former Ratu to fire up again).

The HSBC Junior Waratahs have survived a scare to record an exciting one-point victory against the Queensland Reds 2nd XV this afternoon at Forshaw Rugby Park, keeping their unbeaten season intact.

The home side trailed 6-7 at half-time, but clawed back in a see-sawing second forty with a try on the bell to win 28-27.

Nemani Nadolo was the hero scoring all four of the Junior Tahs' second half tries, including the match-winner.

While the visitors scored a try before half-time to negate Brendan McKibbin's two penalties, the home side crossed just after the break to go ahead 13-7.

However this was just the start of end-to-end Rugby in the second half with the Reds hitting back shortly after to lead 14-13.

The match remained in the balance until the final stages when the visitors looked to have sealed victory by going ahead 27-23 with two minutes to go.

But one last effort by the Junior Tahs resulted in Nadolo's fourth try to record a one-point victory and their fifth win in as many weeks. The HSBC Junior Waratahs have already scored victories over the Australian Barbarians (15-5), Brumby Runners (40-10) and San Isidro Athletic Club, Buenos Aires (50-10) before last weekend defeating the Queensland Reds 2nd XV 18-14 at Ballymore.

Next Sunday the HSBC Junior Waratahs will look to complete a perfect season in their final match against the Brumby Runners at Knox Grammar School, Wahroonga.

HSBC Waratahs 28 (Nemani Nadolo 4 tries; Brendan McKibbin 2 pens, con) d Queensland Reds 2nd XV 27 (Lei Tomiki, Michael Bond, Ben Tapuai tries; Dallan Murphy 3 cons, 2 pens) Forshaw Rugby Park. HT: Reds 2nd XV 7-6. Referee: James Leckie.

Sometimes (not often) scoring four tries just meant you were in the right place at the right time and didn't have to do anything except fall over the line.

Did anyone see the game and make some critical comment about performances? The Tah's and Red's sites' comments give no real indication of what happened. Did Sidey feed him the four tries?

Some of the comments posted suggest that a pro-Nemani push might break out. But to be fair to him, what does he have to do more than he's done? He went OK in the trials and now has scored four in one game against QLD B. And then, if Nemani does get a go, where does that leave Peter Betham (apart from a two week holiday to SA).

From what I've seen both need to be given a chance to prove themselves. Only Turner is playing with any real pizzaz in the back three and Anese has been dire.

Hope you're not hinting about Cornelson, who ran 1000 metres and stepped 5 million people to score those four tries.

Or perhaps he ran a total of 6m and broke no tackles. Still a legendary feat.

But nonetheless, your point is very valid.

for what its worth, I asked Ezra Taylor on twitter about the big fellah. This is what he came back with in twit speak:

mate he deff had it.he's a big strong guy and when one on one tackles out wide aren't made he's gonna coast in.

they used him well.we had blair connor on earlier bt he was concussed so experience wide was thin and lacked size.

proud of forwards though showed a lot of ticker. Reff was def bit rough

It wasn't a slur on Cornelson, anyone who scores four against the Blicks is a legend. I still get goosebumps when I remember that game.

Wasn't at the game but spoke to someone who was. I have been pretty critical of big Nemsy this year, particularly his hands, his work off the ball and his positional sense. However, give him the pill with a bit of room and 1 or 2 to beat and he is hard to stop. Apparently 2 of his meaties yesterday were just falling over the line at the end of some good backline play but 2 were barnstorming runs from the big unit. I still think he would be found out big time at S14 level. He usually is by the good club sides. Put Betham or Rorey Sidey in the 22 ahead of him.
And apparently the forward battle was a cracker!!!
The junior Tahs play Brumby Runners at Knox at 3pm on Sunday. If they beat them they will be undefeated for their season. A fair effort.

So they will have beaten everyone put in front of them, but will still be unlikely to get a look in with the 1st team...that is a shame.
