I thought Mosman won??
Looks like they won the Barbour Cup Xs and Barker won the Subbies Xs Cup…

More importantly, does the Emu Burger still exist!?
Sounds like Hills are the ones that will be sacrificial lambs this year. Rumours of a decent 1's with no depth this year, so 15 rounds might cause a lean end to the year.Division 2 will be 6 clubs - Forest, UNSW, Petersham, St Pat's, Briars and ... (I don't know the 6th club). Will play each other 3 times in a 15 round comp. A draw has been sent to clubs.
Div 3 onwards still to be confirmed.
Thanks for the Info Pfitzy! Classic Lindfield though. Where is that bloke who dislikes them?Divisions in attendance were 2 through 4 from last year. And Lindfield. I don't know why they were there. Got the meeting by mistake?
There was no concrete discussion of setting divisions. Mostly it was a standard Divisional Meeting, running through the slides about club setup, insurance etc. Just more people in the room than usual, as the Media Day with club captains was also happening downstairs.
Div 2 was mentioned as being 15 rounds and therefore you'd have to assume 6 clubs. Again: nothing official was announced in terms of participants but assumptions will be made based on last year's form and numbers, so 5 of the 6 you can probably pick today.
Divs 3 onward will cascade based on the Div 2 outcome. Some are fairly obvious candidates to stay there, some with ambition to enter - including clubs like Hornsby who are working hard for Colts. I'd like that for us as well, of course.
Some clubs said they hadn't even set up registration yet, or were at very low numbers to date. However we all know once trials start it'll be a scramble to get everyone registered.
The clubs who were Div 5 last year will also have a meeting, and any with intentions of moving to 2 Grades fit into the puzzle as it becomes clearer.
If Subbies ran a Media Day with the Club Captains, surely that would mean they did all the Promos with the teams anddivisions settled? Otherwise some of the shots wont sync?
Pfitzy is this last minute rush to sort out divisions below Division 1 something you see happening more often in the coming years or will it sort itself out after this year? With the Epping issues last year and now a short Division 2 we seem to be having problems getting clubs to bridge that gap.I don't think they lined up divisions for media like they did last year - the guy from our club was run and done in the first 15 minutes.
Last year we missed the first media night, so another club stood in for the divisional shot, but they weren't in our division once everything was moved around.
Bernie would love to hear your thoughts as a club that’s growing about moving up to a Division 2 with only 5-6 teams on coming years? The club's position is to build on last year's Colts result through the grade sides and grow the player base. The latter has certainly happened and only time will tell with the former.
Ultimately the goal of the club is to move up a Division but the grade results obviously need to improve.
Realistically that's not going to happen this year as the jump from Division 3 to 2 is massive, not insurmountable, but a huge challenge not only in players numbers, which basically need to double, but in terms of coaches, managers, volunteers etc.
As for bold predictions, as PFE2 has suggested, at least one grade side will make it into the finals.
Epping didnt have a drop off last year - Two premierships shows that.Pfitzy is this last minute rush to sort out divisions below Division 1 something you see happening more often in the coming years or will it sort itself out after this year? Another drop off in Div 2 like Epping had last year and it won’t be a viable competition. Would be interested to see the thoughts of the top end Div 3 clubs - Irish, Merrylands & Knox about whether they aspire to move up or they don’t see themselves being able to get the extra numbers
Perspective is everything of course. Two premierships is great but vacating the 1st Grade spot before Round 1 would be considered a drop by most outside Somerville Oval.Epping didnt have a drop off last year - Two premierships shows that.
Will be a strange Div 2 competition with No previous Grade premiers able to defend their title.
