Wakehurst 2s forfeit. Dang
They seem to struggle when there colts are elsewhere and can’t back up. Surely you’d be looking at playing your colts earlier or maybe even on a Friday night to ensure you’ve got some depth for grade.
Tough call for Wakehurst and Brothers as getting colts proper Colts games is great for the future of the club but the grade sides are hurting with numbers right now.

Maybe that's the future of Colts? Friday night competition across divisions instead of trying to fill Saturdays.

Probably won't get them backing up Saturday unless they didn't get any game time Friday night I guess

Would love an end of season GAGR party at the field of dreams! Brisket looks amazing!

Looks great - tastes better!

We ordered a small brisket for today in anticipation of short numbers, but given Wakehurst are skinny even for First Grade, we'll have some left over at the end of the day

Forest and Blueys was tighter than expected.

Or maybe having them there to back up is important for your club. I reckon you set up a system where colts who play on Friday night can be listed as reserves for first and second grade.

Beecrofts only played 3s so far this year against Hills when there was no Colts side and Epping when there’s no 1s. Could be a long back end of the year as they’ve played a lot at home so far.
Beecroft are working hard with their numbers but like any club, the games at home or closer to home are going to be the ones where your numbers improve.
I can tell you that Beecroft did not have first grade players in the lower grades against us and had a genuine third grade.

Jeez St Pats are aiming up after today's results vs UNSW. Maybe Div 1 needs 2 teams to go up and the bottom 2 to come down. might event the 2 Divisions up.

Waverley swept Drummoyne in 6 Grades + Colts

Hills and Petersham 22-all draw in Barraclough.

Linfield women beat Hunters Hill in Joy Johnson.

Good to see a lot of the Div 1 clubs fielding 6th grade teams - once we get past the mess that covid caused you could expect a 10 team Div 1 with 5 grades and colts not to be out of the equation.

4-5 Rounds in for Div 1 and 2, is it too early to say who can and can't finish the year on top?

In Div 1 Blueys look untouchable even on the road, Waverley have immense strength through the grades but their Kentwell team may be their least reliable (no offence intended, their depth and skill throughout the grades is just that good). Lindfield yet to put together a winning performance, is it an issue of ability or simply taking some time to get used to Div 1 footy after a while out?

In Div 2 Newport is yet to be seriously challenged, Pats looking like the only genuine threat to their undefeated season. Briars improving with each game as more and more lower grade Two Blues backs make their way across. Could they begin a charge towards the top?

Epping fielded 3 grades at Porters and were very competitive. They snatched 4ths and were in both 2s & 3s. A few injuries for the Breakers too at the wrong time leading into the Petersham/St Pats double.

Hornsby girls were red hot. Hornsby are on the up and it looks like good things are happening across that club.

St Pats Colts demolition of UNSW was eye catching. UNSW Colts are very solid so to see that score line sends a warning to others.

Lindfield had a fair day at home along with Forest. Interesting that Blue Mountains have won just one game across all the lowers grades, all be it most have been close losses.

Blueys are the envy of Div1 in terms of 1st Grade but are there any concerns about lack of quality in their grades? They obviously have a huge number of players but they aren't winning too many games outside of 1st Grade and not for the first time this year their 1s have prevented a clean sweep. If injuries, holidays etc strike at Lapstone will they have the depth to maintain the rage?
Hard to see anyone catching Waverley for the Club Championship - a very impressive start to the year.
Colleagues have been surprisingly disappointing so far this year and interested to see if they can turn it around.

UNSW have also been disappointing to start the year. A typically strong club throughout the grades certainly aren't at their best in 2024.
Hills with a surprising draw v Petersham in 1s after a few tough weeks. Petersham would have been expecting a W in that one at Camperdown Oval.

Two big weeks ahead in Div 2 as Newport have their first big test as they take on the two Div 1 rejects. Petersham have been a mixed bag in 2024 but will travel to Porters with a point to prove. Then the following week Newport head to Hudson and a few a top of the table clashes.

Hornsby First Grade through rounds 1-5 used 18 players in the starting XV. The scores they're racking up speak for themselves. A young side generally, fit, and play together a lot. That's a great foundation that hard work can take anywhere into future years.

Provided their injury count stays low I think an undefeated season is a decent possibility.

Their second grade has used a total of 28 starters so far (34 in total) which are good numbers across the club IMHO.

They are a juggernaut across the board. Their recruitment and coaching team seem to be doing a great job and setting a red hot pace early
The club has come a long way from the Div 3 days not so long ago. From what I’ve heard, the link to the school has been tenuous with not as many players coming as you’d expect (evidenced by colts being shaky), instead they’ve leaned on the expat community and focused on a “play hard, party harder culture.”

For the last few years they’ve had the cattle but shaky team cohesion and unforced errors have let them down.

Given the successful structure they’ve put in place off the field, only a matter of time until they get a Kentwell I reckon

Whats the connection? Sick of getting flogged at Two Blues but why Briars and not the other 10 clubs around there?
