Confirming Brothers are in 4 and Briars have moved up to 3.
Merrylands have temporarily disappeared.
Div 3 has 7 clubs right now, with Harlequins to be the 8th once Colts can be worked out.
This leaves Div 4 with 7 Clubs. My mail is that only 2 of those clubs - Balmain and Canterbury - will field 3 senior grades.
Think we might need to get as many clubs with 2 + Colts into 4th division
Yep. Brothers are in 4th Division which I believe is going to be a 2 grade comp.
Most weeks in Div 3 Brothers had about 2.5 senior grades plus colts.
This might become problematic as we intend to mix our colts aged players in with the seniors giving us most likely 3 senior grades. Meaning the guys in 3rd grade may miss out on a game most weeks if we can't organise Halligans when we come up against a club without a 3rd grade.
Whilst it might be easier to get the numbers together I'm concerned about guys leaving the club as they won't be getting much rugby and the younger, Colts aged players, won't be attracted to the club. As the old boys club for St Pius, where our colts come from, this is a real concern.
What the vocal minority in the club fail to realise is that going to a 2 team comp, as they wanted, is a double edged sword and not necessarily in the best interest of the club or, more importantly, the players.
The biggest issue we've had in the past couple of years is, because of lack of numbers, the skill deferential across the club. Guys who should be playing 4th grade have had to, and wanted to, play 2nd grade. But are disheartened about being beaten every week. We've also tried to fill out a 3rd grade side but have been just short and fell into trap of having players double up. Without a Colts side we should be able to select sides across our grades that are more competitive and have players in grades that suit their skill level.
