I could not help when reading the 2018 subbies annual report but to notice the club that secured the crown for worst disciplined club in subbies rugby.. no less than 8 trips to the judiciary over 14 rounds is nothing to be sneezed at boys. Well done to the Newport Breakers Rugby Club.

Lindfield have appointed David Zwart as 1st grade coach for 2019 (big CV at subbies level and more recently asst coach at Gordon 1sts). May be able to grab a few Gordon (amateur) players that do not fit into Coleman's plans. Should be a force in the ones next year, which, given depth of club, could result in a jump back to Kentwell.

Interesting....I don't know if I would include Gordon 1st on the resume. I believe he left with the head coach after not such a successful start to the season in 2018.
Anyway, hope he can find his feet at Lindfield but not sure any Gordon players will be following him.

Good find Chip, almost all of them comically were for supposed high tackles.
The big take out for me from the AGM report is the 16% or 800 players that walked away from playing rugby from 2017. Here’s hoping they come back in 2019.

Out of curiosity, are any of the subbies Coaches positions, Paid positions? I would be surprised in the current climate. Surely at subbies level you do it for the love of the game.
Also, following a few subbies socials and it's great to see the promotion of Womens rugby amongst clubs now. Going from strength to strength.

MP (Moana Pasifika), it is my assumption that he is being paid - Lindfield is a pretty well-off club. (And I think their good behaviour bond of $10,000 may have been refunded by now). They have a strong list of sponsors

Mate I think your best option would be following King's Old boys lead from this year and getting the older guys together for a run in the Halligan cup!
Also: does anyone know of a semi-regular Old Boys' comp? We'd like to see how many over 35s are interested in playing that rather than First Grade

Golden oldies is fairly well organised, they put a draw out at the start of the year and you just turn up to the games you like.
Each place does like a gala day, and all the teams are there, you don't need a full side either as you can just fill in for other short teams and have others do the same for you.

Can't see the image but I assume its Saints "rebranding"....
This was the name they came to us with to merge. It seems they've just gone ahead with it without us anyway. I don't see how it makes any difference whatsoever. Surely it just alienates the few remaining diehards they had left.
Good luck to them - great club but just seems odd.

Yes, Northern Saints. Seems like a strange move to me. Not sure how it is going to help them attract players? Anyone from St. Ives able to comment?

Great to see that they are aiming to stay in 3rd division if the structure stays the same as it was in 2018.
This is a risky move on Saints behalf although I think it continues to show that there are too many clubs in the area. In a 20km radius you have:
Knox Div 1
Forest Div 2
Lindfield Div 2
Brothers Div 3
Bobs Div 3
Forest have an advantage in that they have their own geographic region to draw from.
Knox, Bobs and Brothers all have a link to schools.
Saints and Lindfield have junior clubs to draw from, but how many end up at private schools and don't continue to play for the club?
Knox and Bobs need to be careful as the number of rugby players at each school gets smaller as AFL gets a foothold
