Bobs 40 hv 7. Looks like heavyb was a bit closer than heavy b. Any other div 3 results?

Well done to BOBs and hopefully they go on with it next week and beat HAC.

Plenty of red and yellow cards across DIV 2 and DIv 3 today. The Forest vs Blue Mountains game looks like it was a see sawing cracker. Looks like the red card for Forest was a 2nd grader which means he will miss his GF next week. Likewise the Mountains prop in 1s will be watching from the sideline. Reds are massive calls in finals so will be interested to hear commentary around validity.

Redfield beat Newport with two reds and a yellow. Ref overruled tough judge who called no try after an elbow to the head. Hopefully video picked it up as was a howler.

Newport colts into GF and Iggies in 3s to play BOBs next week.

I see UNSW have come from 4th to make 4th grade GF in DIV 2. They are the masters.

Surprise surprise old iggies make the finals in the lowest grade despite the club as a whole achieving fuck all this season. It happened years ago and still seems to be the case.

Also plenty of red in Div 1 third grade today. Drummoyne had 3 red cards after a fight. their number 8 even punched his own teammate, not a great look especially in finals footy

Any Div 1 picks? I do find it interesting that we don't hear that much about 1st division.

On another note, does anybody know why there are so many former Hawkesbury Valley players at HAC? Is it a case of being a more successful neighbour for the last few years and players have drifted across?

I've tried but no one's interested.

They were on a mission.

We had 7 cards(2 red) in our game.

And there were 2 x red cards, and plenty of yellow cards, in the game at Forshaw last evening: Burraneer vs Engadine!

From the sidelines it appeared the referee lost control of the match...

Any match report HeavyD? Should make for some cracking finals.

Hey Nath - what happened there? We were all confused a to some of the rulings (and cards) last night from the grandstand.

I don't want to ref bash, but sometimes I think once they give a red, they start giving the cards out because they've set a precedent.

The red to burra was for repeated infringements.

Burra are gonna write a letter to try to get our guy off, we're not much chance without him.

Savers turned up yesterday and beat Merrylands which was a bit of a surprise - I know the men from Manly have had a good second half to the season but they were well up at one stage and have clearly got their shit together.

Of course, we'll take credit for kickstarting their run in Round 8 when they won on a last-minute dropgoal ;)

Think they've got some kind of Argentinean connection the last couple of months - some talent there.

DIV 2 Grand Finals

Some interesting clashes that will take place at Concord Oval this weekend.

4th Grade

St Pats v UNSW- Probably the hardest game to pick this one. St Pats a very big physical pack, UNSW a smaller younger side who appear to be a lot better than a 4th grade side. UNSW blew Hills off the park in the preliminary finals throwing the ball wide at will and giving it to their speed men. St Pats will play it tight and look to bash and barge and win the set piece battle. I think it will be close but ill back the Minor Premiers pack to do the damage. ST Pats by 5

3rd Grade

Blue Mountains v Lindfield- A red hot Mountains team/Club look very hard to beat throughout the day. Lindfield have showed they can hang in and are prepared to do the tough stuff against Mountains. I cant see them knocking off the Mountain men though in this, a full bench plus fresh after a week off they'll be way to good. Mountains by 15

Colts

Forest v St Pats- Should be a cracker this game. Forest very close to being knocked out in straight sets after having such dominant year. St Pats have been consistent and have showed some scintillating form in the back end of the season. I think the boys from Strathfield will take this one out here though, they'll have to much physicality wise over Forest but it will be tight. St Pats by3

2nd Grade

Blue Mountains v Forest- Again Blue Mountains the most dominant team all year and hard to see this being any different. Forest will likely be without their best player ho was Red Carded in the 1st Grade Preliminary Final and don't think they will have others that are able to come down to fill the void. Mountains although their eggs will be in the 1st grade basked mainly will be way to strong especially with the depth they have. Mountains by 10

1st Grade

St Pats v Blue Mountains- Should be a belter. Pats with the dominant forward pack and Mountains with the flair and talent in the backline. Mountains losing their big prop/hooker through suspension will be a massive loss and will give St Pats the edge in the pack. If Mountains can hand on in there at Set Piece that'll be enough for blueys to unleash their strike weapons out wide. Mountains by 8

Big weekend ahead with Blueys and St Pats contesting 3 GFs, Forest 2, Lindfield and UNSW with 1 a piece. It will be a particularly long day for St Pats playing 4s and 1s with colts wedged in the middle, however they would be happy with how close they are to home at Concord Oval. Blueys have a slightly shorter stay but no doubt come the main game the St Pats and Blue Mountains crowds will be raring to go.

As far as tips, I'm predicting Blue Mountains to go 3 from 3 on the day, making light work of Forest and Lindfield in 2s and 3s. The 1s match should be an absolute belter and backing the speed of Blue Mountains out wide to be the difference between the teams.

4s is a tough one. UNSW snuck in to finals by the skin of their teeth and have successfully executed a good late season stack. St Pats 4th Grade has been strong for a while now in Div 1 and have some very talented '4th Graders' running around. I'm going to back the minor premiers to get the job done against the fast finishing Uni. I'm indifferent on stacking as it is completely within the rules but it's a funny one when UNSW and St Pats ran last and 2nd last respectively in 3rd Grade and 2nd Grade.

Colts I'm not too sure about. Forest have had a rocky road to the GF but have shown throughout the year what they are capable of. St Pats have finished the year strong and will have the momentum heading in. I can't pick it but a toss of a coin I'm going to say St Pats.

Dickhead move of the week goes to north cronulla who posted their tip sheet on us on a public fb page.

And in the process giving up our old coach who sent it to them.

I think the stacking term is thrown around a little bit too much but it is not great on a club's culture or morale when it is done. I think it can be a sign of a club in a bit of strife and always feel sorry those who end up getting dropped.... the worst ones are the poor blokes who get dropped to a higher grade.... lambs to the slaughter

As you say the term is thrown around joked about a lot but I really don't think it happens all that much to be honest.... what I think happens more is you get these gun lower grade sides that form in the name of "mates playing together". Barker 3's for instance will win a GF by 50+ this weekend when half that side wouldn't look out of place in 1s. I'm sure they're all decent blokes with good intentions but you have to question whether it's fair or in the spirit.
