I think there needs to be some more recognition of NRC "qualifications" and U20 (State, national, and other nations) representation with U20 being a little tricky because State squads aren't formally announced until after 1 Jan.

Nothing tricky about adjusting the points value against a players name.
its an easy process,every club updates their player points records when the 20's squad is announced,it's not even a 5 minute job.

Disappointing that Player Points haven't been adjusted to accommodate NRC and State U20 selections.
I think that they are "better" indicators of current playing abilities/form relative to others in Colts than making State or Aust Schoolboys team two years previously.
Quite a few previously unheralded players thrive in the club environment post school. Look at what the Beasties have achieved this year.
In their second year of Colts what a Player achieved (or didn't achieve) as an U18 Year 12 student matters little in the minds of Colts Selectors and Coaches. If the Schoolboy Rockstar is any "good", they will continue to attract Player Points handicaps from being selected in NRC and/or U20 State/National teams.
It doesn't take the brains of a Rocket Surgeon to see that there seems to be a correlation between Clubs with paid Coaching Staff and team performance. Perhaps there should be "Player Points" allocated to the teams Coaching Staff with that incorporated into the Player Points Cap. While this may be a good idea to "level the playing field", until ARU and Waratahs/NSWRU throw some proper money into "The Pathway", we should not be penalising those clubs that are doing so. Looking at the financial state of the game at ARU and NSW level, this isn't going to happen soon.

How many 2016 colts players got a gig in NRC this year?
It's not an issue.
In any event those selections were based on club nominations.
What do you think will happen if these nominations come with points for the following year? No club will nominate bottom age colts players.
Agree that NSW 20's players should attract the most points.

Provided players don't relocate across State Lines, I agree that the "Played NRC" issue is not really a big one for Colts 2016, but it should factor in Shute Shield Player Points Calculations.
NSW only had the following folk who will be Colts eligible in 2016 play one or more NRC games:
James WILKINSON, Gordon Shute Shield, NSW. 2015 North Harbour Rays NRC (1 game off the bench. Carries Combined States 2014 points into 2016 with -2 points [max] loyalty discount).
Declan MOORE, Sydney University, NSW. 2015 Sydney Stars NRC (3 games off the bench. Carries NSW II Schoolboys 2014 points into 2016 with with -2 points [max] loyalty discount).
Guy PORTER, Sydney University, NSW. 2015 Sydney Stars NRC (2 starting games. Carries NSW I Schoolboys 2014 points into 2016 with with -1 point loyalty discount).
Theo STRANG, Scots College, NSW. 2015 Sydney Stars NRC squad. (No NRC games & will arrive in Colts with Aust Schoolboys Player points. Assume this will be Uni. What will The Corporation do with Duffy (2014 Aust Schoolboy halfback)? - Grade to replace Gordon who is Tahs EPS or something?)
Additionally these young men found favour with other nations selectors in 2015, and are believed to be eligible for Australia in 2016:
Vunipola FIFITA, Randwick, NSW, Tonga 2015 (Previous State U20 experience, and Aust Schoolboys player points)
Sam TABUATAMATA, Gordon, NSW, Fiji 2015
Others in the "Born in 1996 or earlier" cohort, with experience at National U20 Championships include:

Of the names mentioned above, not many will get much Colts 2016 time.

Moore played about 4 First Grade and a couple of 2nd Grade games, mostly off the bench. He is behind Fainga'a and Coolican at The Corporation, so may be doing a 1/2 Colts, 1/2 Grade season in 2016.
Porter was injured for most of 2015, fronting up from Team Rehab for the last few rounds of Colts. He has another 2 years of Colts eligibility ahead of him, and probably should spend at least the early rounds of 2016 in Colts (with some time doing the Summer 7's circuit as well).
Fifita played about 3 first Grade and 3 second Grade games for the Wicks. The Wicks stocks of Colts props is healthy and he will probably be in Grade when not on U20's duties.
Craig is behind Roach, Pearce and a couple of Ferris's at the Woodies and will be probably miss a few rounds due to U20 duties. His development would benefit from some more grade time (he got a couple of lower Grade games this year), but the Woodies tend not to push their Colts players into Shute Shield early.
Brown is a bit of an enigma. Made State U20s last year, and had a game or two with Grade at the Corporation but while being in and out of Team Rehab ended up in Colts 3's and 2's.
Bradford is unlikely to come under SRU (Colts or otherwise) jurisdiction in 2016, and therefore will not be subject to Player Points calculations.

Pre-Season training is about to start at some of the more aspirational clubs, so some hands may be revealed soon although attending a pre-Christmas pre-season is no guarantee that the player will definitely end up with that club.
Always best to wait until the Feb/March trials for the best indications of where the RockStars from 2015 will end up.

Pre-season is underway (or about to start) at most clubs.
How are the numbers looking, and have there been any movements between clubs in the off season?
Will the Emus have sufficient players at the required skill level to compete in Colts 1?
Same with Rats. They had a couple of defaults last season in round 1 and 2 when they were not able to field 3 teams, and their Colts 1 team had some fairly big score blow outs against them.

Watched norths train HJ, and looked to have 40-50 at training. No-one of note ie: none of the schoolboy players from Aus\nsw of note, unless they are still with tahs 20's.
Some notable absentees in both the Clancy boys, but overall, I think numbers seemed good for this time of year.

I think ACL is a season ender. Norths (and NSW U20s) Colts will miss Jack of the Overflow.

MTB had a lot of last years boys move up to grade but have a swag of young'uns.Will have good numbers but as we know you need at least 85 to get through a season. Still recruiting and still getting the "Woodville Road Walk In". "Have you played much rugby son?" "yeah played a bit at school and Hurricanes under 20's and stuff". Believe me it happens.
