It was suspected, but as much as I hate Randwick, I don't think they were paid.
Proof being Campo spent his off season's in Italy, so did Mark Giacheri.
The lure back then was a percieved easy ride to the Wallabies - not a career path, which is what Uni are offering.

I find it a credit to clubs that they can actually draw talent to Sydney grade.

Overall, it makes the comp stonger and therefore benefit all.

Get over yourselves NSWRU, these clubs are doing you a favour.

interestingly hockey up here in Brisbane is doing a similar thing next year. Two clubs (commercial and someone else) have dominated for a while, so they are grading players and having a points cap.

Shall be interesting to compare the two, despite the obvious differences.

i dont have a problem with the talent being spread across the comp and if they could make it even all credit to them, my main problem with this (and im a uni hater) is that if we take from the clubs (uni, randwick etc) that offer incentive to play for them to give to the poor, will we lose the younger players to league were there paydays are easier.

its one thing to hate uni cos they give out free scholarships but the fact of the matter is they have produced and kept alot of suer rugby talent in australia.

Maybe it's time the ARU/NSWRU spent some of that money at the lower end clubs to enable them to retain younger players.
