Surprise Call up of Matt Giteau to RWC Squad

Rumours coming out of the Wallabies camp in the last couple of hours have hinted at injured winger Digby Ioane being sent home and replaced by shock recall Matt Giteau. If Digby is replaced as an injured player he will not be allowed to return to the Wallabies world cup squad. Many outside the Wallabies camp were confused at the possible move until Robbie Deans held a late-night press conference on Wednesday. "Put simply, if there actually is something wrong with the Virtuo ball we felt it best to have a specialty kicker in the team who can shank one from infront so bad that with this ball, might just go in."

I always thought Deans announced the team on a Thursday?

Given its only a 6 day turn around, I wouldn't really expect that many coaches to name their team more than two days before a game.
