The Western Force has continued their preparations for the second match of their New Zealand tour, as they get set to take on the Super Rugby Aotearoa champions the Crusaders in Christchurch on Friday afternoon from 3:05pm AWST.

OK, so what else is new after such a poor showing against the Hurricanes in Napier?
I'm a bit tired of the tendency for the WF to play catch-up rugby and show an amazing amount of energy in the back third of the game.
Would rather see a full 80-minute effort with more leadership on the field - as there is no shortage of experience in all player groups.
There is clearly something lacking in match preparation and game plan.
There has been no obvious attack plan and kicking away possession is not a winning strategy against NZ teams.
IMO, the talent is on the park to be more competitive, but it's up to the head coach and leadership group to demand/show a full-match effort.
Sampson has proved that he is a good developer of young talent.
He has yet to show that he can draw the best from an experienced player group and is getting really tested at Super Rugby level.

TBF, you could take your pick of any coach in Australia (or even Razor Robertson himself) to be in charge of the Force for this comp and the chance of winning away against the Saders here would still be no better than 1 in 20, at best.

Things that they need to be doing better than last week (to even be in the frame) are making smarter decisions with retaining the ball and regaining a tighter defence.

The offence has been limited for most of the season. On occasions guys like Taefu and Olowofela added some backline go-forward and finishing, but overall it's not a threat.

The team needs to build via both recruitment and, importantly, time in the saddle
