Super Rugby Rd 1: Waratahs vs Brumbies Friday, 24th February

He's been pretty poor including the trials. Trying to do too much, needs to keep it simple, just straight and hard rather than trying to find a gap and not get tackled.
Agree. He muddled up the midfield at times when he needed to be out wide and stick to his strength as a finisher. Don't know if it was a coaches call but he's not a distributor

Tahs will really miss Bell, was the best player on the park until he went off. Thought Lambert went pretty well though.
Brumbies just to accurate for the Tahs, most of the Tahs individually were okay, but passes, defensive positioning, breakdown work all letting them down. This has been a Tahs issue since Cheika left, DC needs to fix it if they are to challenge
I thought Wright and Toole were good, Jack D, Schoup, Valetini all very good.
Edmed is a solid player, but he doesn't seem to be able to manage his backline.

Probably some better analysis to it but fuck Tahs woulda done a lot better if they didnt drop so much pill.

Butter fingers + shite scrum, doesnt sound like a winning equation.

I thought he was very good.

Stars:

- Toole, Ikitau, Longergan, Frost, Ulugia, Schoupp,
- Jorgensen, Foketi, Hooper, Lambert, Faulkner, Gleeson.

Samu's work rate was poor. Can't see Eddie loving that. Brumby scrum very dominant although a fair bit of dodgy going on at the engagement.
Agree with all of this Reg. I was at the game and made a point of watching Hooper closely. Very busy but just doing un-flashy stuff. Particularly agree with Ikitau, Frost, Foketi and Lambert. The 2 left wingers both look like they belong here.

Best part of the game was seeing the Brumbies compete for the ball at ruck time. This has been missing from their game for quite some time.

Brumbies forwards simply too strong at set piece and in th open. Tahs definitely missed Bell after he went off injured.

Both sides showed good enterprise in attack but Brumbies looked the more likely to break the other's defence.

Best were Valetini, Wright, Muirhead, Frost and Toole. Both Ulugia and Schoup were surprisingly effective. Jack D and Noah Lolesio had effective games. Ryan Lonergan is in the mix for higher honours as well.

Max Jorgensen has tremendous potential and played well above his 18 years. Foketi was good at times and Gamble is a threat when he holds the ball. Holloway had a strong game at lock but the rest were rather average.

I think something like 25K was announced. Not sure though. The inside bars on the Members side were pretty full all game, and they're quite big! Merivale don't miss with the pricing for food / drinks.

Classic Brumbies attitude harking back to 1996.:D
I didn't like Schoupp's attitude tonight. His first Super Rugby game and he was acting like he was Eben Etzebeth or Bakkies Botha.

Come on! Be humble, life is a wheel. Sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down
