Tactically stupid as, next to nothing chance of scoring. For PD best to kick it in to touch. But even after being fucked all night long, I bet all they were thinking about was a hot shower and their bed, despite all that, they still had a crack because they wanted to prove to us/them they could do it.

Well that was grim for the Force. Great for the Reds and great for the Wallabies, though.

The hard thing about losses at the moment as a Force supporter is that there isn't a whole lot of hope that comes with a performance like that. Outclassed across the field and not a whole lot of prospect of getting any better. The great thing about the Reds is that whenever there has been a few lean years, there has always been some really exciting young tearaways knocking on the door and showing the kind of promise that makes the losses easier to swallow.

Agree Boof, as I have said a few times they are a fairly good NRC/GRR standard side, probably nothing more, but if they know they are going to play at Super level from now on they need to do a shitload of buying in player stocks. What's hurting them a bit at moment also is teams like Reds and Tahs etc are full of young talet that is improving all the time, and will do over next few years (if Qld and NSW can keep them), so I think they probably have to hope that Twiggy is going to bankroll them a whole lot more.
Anyway they still my 2nd Aus team regardless!

There were so many tries in the highlights they had already finished talking about the golf before the package was done. Love to see it.

Serious question: how many of these young guys in the current Force squad are local products? The best thing that can be done for the growth of Australian rugby in this context is for Mr Moneybags to throw a lot of it at proven Australians playing offshore. Local rugby will only grow if local teams win a reasonable share of their contests. Success breeds success.

True Boof, not sure what the answer is, I really think if players are bought in it should be to replace some of the older ones maybe, and build a team around the younger players. I would hate to see these young fellas go on scrapheap because the team is not strong enough to support them through next few years.

We lost a bunch of our local products with the 2017 death of the Force. There are some- Longbottom, Koteka, Callan, Godwin, Jooste and Lacey are the regulars. There are a handful with other teams- Jack Hardy at the Reds, Michael McDonald and Carlo Tizzano at the Tahs, Hardwick and DHP at the Rebels.

Couple of sorta WA products in Ryan Louwrens and Ainsley (played age grade with us).

Handful also overseas in Chance Peni, Luke Burton, Corey Thomas, RHP, Zack Holmes, Harry Scoble, the outside centre who went to the Tahs whose name escapes me.

I don't think there are many, if any, local WA guys missing out because non-WA oldies are being parachuted in. Maybe Jooste. Ben Grant at a push.

I'd say at the moment WA talent production is in line with the ACT and ahead of VIC. Not enough for sustainability at Super level, but enough to build a base that could be competitive with clever recruiting (i.e. what the Brumbies do)

Forgot Tevin Ferris who is now injured and Tom Sheminant. We do a pretty good job of producing backrowers, front rowers and inside backs. Not as good in other areas.

And removing the Force from the top tier comp (no disrespect to GRR) means: less incentive for talent to move interstate—>WA rugby isn’t as high quality—>less enthusiasm at grassroots—>less home grown talent. The Force might have a couple of lean years but with all the talent coming through at the moment there are queues building in the east coast sides and some will surely move west for opportunities. Someone like ASY (Angus Scott-Young) (and I know the QLD faithful won’t want to lose him) is easily starting quality (and would make a very good captain) but isn’t going to get it at the Reds.

I must say that TMO is really good making early calls and keeping speed up of the game - Jordan for his first super rugby ref gig also has a good game.
