Going to be interesting this one.

Brumbies at home is usually a gimme, but the Reds are strong, and have got a much better pack for this match up.

Slipper and AAA missing, along with McInerny, takes out most of out front row. Fortunately, Fainga'a is back to go with Sio, but Thor is not the tighthead you want to be facing with an understrength front row.

1. Scott Sio vs Tongan Thor - adv QLD

2. Folau Fainga'a vs Alex Mafi - Even

3. Tom Ross vs Dane Zander - Even

4. Darcy Swain vs Angus Blyth - Even

5. Cadeyrn Neville vs LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) - adv QLD

6. Rob Valetini vs Angus Scott-Blyth - adv Brumbies

7. Tom Cusack (c) vs Fraser McReight - Even

8. Pete Samu vs Harry Wilson - adv QLD

9. Nic White vs Tate McDermott - adv Brumbies

10. Noah Lolesio vs JOC (James O'Connor) - adv QLD

11. Mack Hansen vs Vunivalu - adv QLD

12. Irae Simone vs Hunter Paisami - adv QLD

13. Len Ikitau vs Jordan Petai - adv QLD

14. Andy Muirhead vs Daugunu - adv QLD

15. Tom Banks vs Jock Campbell - adv Brumbies

Brumbies: 3
Even: 4
Reds: 8

Probably a little generous Brumbieman and the loose forwards, all of them, could be swapped around depending on an individuals thoughts. Home game worth 2 as well, I reckon.

Then add the bench.

I'm nervous, but reckon you're right. This is there for the Reds.

Yeah, I was thinking that if any Qld player was ahead of a Brumbies players it was very minimal. I'm so excited for this game I hope it lives up to my expectations.

edit* to be clear I think it's going to be close.

Giving it to Vunivalu is odd given his 5 mins of rugby.
Astonished that a Brumby fan would favour Petaia over Ikitau.
I would give the point to Neville over LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), simply as this is his first game.
Not sure Wilson takes Samu - even?

But
Valetini v ASY (Angus Scott-Young) even
McReight over Cusack

It almost comes down to:-
Home town advantage; and
I think we are better 16 to 23.

I think Valetini over ASY (Angus Scott-Young), but they play very different styles, it's hard to tell.

Oh dont get me wrong, that's not how I see the match up, but that's how Wallaby selectors seem to see it so I went with the most caps in each 1v1.

Petaia has multiple caps, and is circle-jerked over by everyone in Australia, Ikitau is a nobody who enraged people with his mere inclusion as a bolter last year and is attempting to fill the shoes of Kuridrani.

LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is a current, and long term Wallaby - Neville has.....has he played a test?
Samu vs Wilson is even? Samu has....3-4 caps? 1-2 with each of the past two coaches before he's been thrown overboard on the end of a line as bait for everyone else's dinner. Wilson is very, very clearly in favour and rated higher by our last two coaches than Samu is.

I went with Vunivalu as he has 96 odd tries and a shitload of experience, albeit in league, vs a 21 rookie who's had a good start.
Valetini is definitely over ASY (Angus Scott-Young), but if you want to call it even then ok...
McReight is capped, and a Captain of very high regard, vs a veteran and 7's Captain.....i'd call that even, I don't want QLD to think they've got too many over us in the 1 v 1 before they learn who's in charge around this parallel of the country.

Weather well and truly in Reds favour. Mid 20s and very high humidity today. Tomorrow forecast to be 29 degrees. If the humidity hangs around the Reds players will think they're back in Paradise.

Actually I don’t think the humidity suits as at all unless we are going to change game plan.

White didn’t play as well as expected last game. If Tate is in pest mode he can shut down a lot of their play. If Paisami and Wilson mark up on Lolesio hard then we’ll shut down his confidence. We just need to hold the scrum. Reds by 10.
