Super Rugby Au Final - Brumbies v Reds

It's time to open the conversation.

SRau has been superb and we are down to this. Always felt that whoever wins should have to defeat, in a knock out, the team that is palpably penultimate.

Think we got there.

Brumbies serious favourites, but who knows. We live in interesting times.

I think we'll see both teams' supporters calling the other side favourites. This should be really tight.

Looking forward to some massive matchups across the park and the resulting arguments over Wallaby spots.

As a Brumbies fan, I actually think they have dropped form since the start of the season. So I think this game is going to be a cracker!

Reds will come in confident

Well, having seen all the highlights videos across the season, I can safely curse the Brumbies by saying they'll do it by 15 points.

Most of the talk around the Reds injuries from last weekend has Petaia fit but CFS unlikely, so it's likely that Paisami slots into 13 with Petaia on the wing. Probably Hardy coming onto the bench.

This could make things interesting in the 13 channel. I think Petaia is a supremely better defender than Paisami. Although based on form, Paisami shouldn't have too much to worry about in attack with TK, however, considering his non-selection in the Wallabies squad, I'm think we may see a vintage TK performance to show that he's still got it against the guys who have been selected instead of him.

That is assuming the above happens - do Brumbies fans think TK will start at 13?

Makes them stronger IMO.

I think the Brumbies win by virtue of home advantage, but if any team could win away its the Reds.

Really excited for this! Shame the Wallabies squad and Bledisloe fighting has distracted from it. Is there some hype in QLD and ACT?

I think we can use the Ben Darwin, cohesion theory, the ponies were the most settled side, followed by the Reds & Rebels

That cohesion let them hit the ground running, but as the season rolled on other teams started to gel and they were brought back to the pack somewhat

They are still the team to beat

They seemed to chop and change a bit towards the back end of the season, maybe that had an impact on cohesion.

What a great match up this game threatens to be. A good team with overall better players (Reds) versus a better team with overall good players (Brumbies).

But of course, its not that simple. The Reds have shown exceptional team work in much of their work through the season and the Brumbies players clearly match up against most oppositions in our tournament.

A lot will depend, I think, on how the Reds recover from the brutal game last weekend and how they handle the travel. Saturday promises to be almost ideal for rugby, temperature in low 20s with some cloud cover and possible showers.

I expect the tight 5 battle to be a beauty. Tupou clearly the key to the Reds gaining dominance. Shut him down and I believe the scrum contest could be even, while the Brumbies probably have a slight edge at lineout time so long as they keep their throws away from Wright jumping at two.

White v McDermott will be intriguing, two quite different styles of players. JOC (James O'Connor) will have the edge at No 10, but be interesting to see if Lolesio gets a run at some stage. Simone is the most creative player in the backlines, but the Reds probably have the edge again out wide. Depends a lot on whether Petaia comes through uninjured and in which spot he plays. Wasted on the wing imo.

Looking for the Brumbies to take it out, but either way, will be a fitting finale to an excellent local tournament.

If Reds win and stay true to form it will be D.

Brumbies have the edge being at home, but the Reds have just learnt how to play a solid game for 80mins and will have the metal edge.

EDIT. Mental edge
