Super Rugby Au Final - Brumbies v Reds

I’m cranky, bitter, and dirty at all the Brumbies cheating and Gardner bias. All the things you should be in a good, tight, local derby based competition. I love that we’ve got this kind of passion building again - how good was SuperRugbyAu! In all seriousness, better team won and well done Brumbies. Reds only started climbing out of their hole midway in the second half.

Surely that’s not the best referee we have in Australia. Perplexing decisions both ways. Scrappy game but the Brumbies played smarter. Control the territory and wait for the inevitable.

Uh huh

How much possession did the Reds lose on their own line-out? Tough to win a game without the ball; could easily have been the difference.

He has many good points but Lolesio finished on top tonight imo.

Plenty of Brumbies did, but not at 10 I think.

I was closely watching a short number of Brumbies.
Miller didn’t impress, read the ref well and took advantage in the rucks on attack.
I liked McCaffrey and Neville.
Samu OK.
I’m beginning to see why people like Simone.

Well, whoever decided MOTM thought he finished on top. I thought both he and JOC (James O'Connor) played well but the winning ten is always going to attract more praise.

Noah's drop goal counted for a lot in the end.

JOC (James O'Connor) was busier for the Reds than Noah was for the Brumbies, in otherwords, JOC (James O'Connor) was forced to do more and Noah was able to drift in and out and have more meaningful contributions. He played a great game and didn't seem to be impacted by that long layoff!

Brumbies were too good, the pressure they were able to place the Reds under caused the mistakes and allowed the Brumbies to capitalize. Some of the Reds season long stand out players didn't step up and some of the Brumbies under performers saved their best for last.

All honesty, Gardener didn't cost the Reds the game. Too many stupid penalties combined with line out mistakes gifted the Brumbies territory and possession. That whole 'excuse me' power trip was great.

I had him at MOTM.

JOC (James O'Connor) played solid but not great, Lolesio managed the game exceptionally well.

Lolesio stood behind a (generally) dominant attack or his team was gifted territory by Red errors and penalties. He did not have to work as hard as JOC (James O'Connor). Lolesio, Quade-like is protected in D back at full back, where JOC (James O'Connor) defends the 10 slot. He did make a great drop, which is cool. But I don’t rate his performance tonight as better than JOC (James O'Connor). It was all the same an excellent performance returning cold. Well done but not MOTM for me.

Thought White might have made more of his opportunities than he did,

Slipper is (again) the quiet achiever. Reds had gained ascendency in the eyes of Gus and Slipper turned that around.
