well this thread is epic isnt it, needs more tom carter and less south africans!

Not as funny as your "off to dinner with Mandela" comment.... probably because I don't get it.
Tom Carter?

like mandela had dinner with the white fella before your world cup win, our leader will probably call tom carter in in 2011 to ask him to get the job done.

its the only way australia can unite all you immigrants from your anti north africa zone with our general population!

Maybe an Australian native can translate?

God knows I've lived here for six years and reckon I make sense of most things Australian but every now and then a clown in a stupid blue jacket or some other disastrous frock shows up to remind me I am am but an immigrant. In this case I suspect he himself doesn't even know what the fuck he is on about.

That is all.

Yep... I'm still as puzzled as a mongolian reading a Paarl post...

Who the f#ck is Tom Carter when he's home?
I assumed this is a reference to someone Aussies would know?

Anyhoooooo.... back to the price of tickets... err, sort of....

Paarl, no news yet on whether WP rugby is going to move to the Greenpoint stadium in 2011?
I think it gives them more seats to sell, but critically, considerably fewer corporate boxes.

Shame Blue, suppose with a name like that , he is suppose to give himself a big uppercut. But I promised myself I'll stay away from that kind of kak and just then snap and before I even knew, I strip my moer. Would have thought I would learn from past mistakes but no, I dont. Oom Biff please give me some advise here Boet?

Bill I see the Boland vs Stormers match is schedule for your beloved Greenpoint Stadium. Maybe the first and hopefull the last. I am a stern rugby culture man and will be sad to see the third oldest rugby stadium in the world going.

The other nick the Durbs souties dont like is the Guppie one. For some reason they dont like it one bit. Maybe when Billy gets back he can explain where the Guppie name come from. Billy is a Westville boytjie, also Boer with a very smooth english on him.

Hell I still blame my ou toppie about the english, he refuse point blank anything about Pom in our house, walk out the door when God save the Queen played before tests and refuse to speak it. Took me flippen ages to realise language is only a communication method and not a war, like they had in their day.

Now the english have put a spell on me with my girl dropping her english one in her first year at Maties.

Yup, as Rusty said, the Guppie nickname was given to the Sharks rugby team - probably in the days when Kevin Putt was coach and the team had no bite.
A Guppie is a tiny fish.... bit like a goldfish, only smaller.

As Paarl says, I am a Westville (In Kwa-Zulu Natal, also known as the Last British Outpost) boy - Afrikaans family, but went to an English scool from aged 10.
So I guess the official Saffa description for me is an Anglicized Dutchman :lmao:
Paarl will attest to the fact that my Afrikaans these days is spoken (and at times mangled) with an English accent - much to the amusement of many of my extended family members.

While I am a PE boy, I do have some Durban roots. I was born there when my dad was at the University of Natal and they where living in the Bluff. And later on in the early 80s, I lived in Kloof for three years.

i know what i'm on about, question is do you?, do you really?

we can clear that up for you, it means you came here for a holiday and you didnt go home!
cant blame you, with our ample 5 super teams and our clyde rathbone, things are looking good in australia!

Carter is a very, very bad 12 who plays for the Tahs (correction, occupies a place in the Tahs team). He is a cocky little shit who doesn't shut his mouth for a second. Pushes people after they've tackled him, constantly screaming at his team mates etc. He has played S14 for a few years but I am not surprised you donlt know who he is becuase he's useless.

How he relates to this thread, Mandela, and ticket prices is a complete mystery to me and I suspect due to and apparent lack of eloquence we are doomed to never find out.

A while back on this board we referred to T. Carter as "the average player" - and occasionally you will see other players measured in Carters (Roy and HG, two humourour sports commentators who like to take the piss, did something similar with a league player years ago). T. Carter is rated as 1.0 Carters. D. Carter is more in the line of 10.0 Carters.

Well, to be fair to the bloke - he can tackle. Was coined the "defensive miracle" on this board because he had around a 95% completion rate on his tackles. He can't do much else, though, like pass or bust tackles. It must be said that Carter does very nicely at club level in a team of champions.

Oh, and he has the worst try celebration of all time. It's basically like Monkey trying to summon his cloud, but looks more stupid. The funniest moment was when Carter chased through a grubber and thought he scored, gets up and does his little "celebration" as the ref is calling it back.

But yeah, Carter is niggly, isn't he?

And I think poor WJ is out of his depth here with Blue. BTW, Blue's English is great - better than WJ's and quite a few people I know who have English as their first language. I wouldn't have picked it as his second language, apart from that Saffa accent he still have. I don't think Blue's learnt to understand the Westie dialect of Awstraylyaaaan yet, though.

good call ash, completely out of my depth,
thats why im the centre of attention! cos i dont know nothing!

so how long you guys known tommy carter? lots of people with personal insight into players attitudes and thoughts, you would think everyone on this board was his mother!

the fact he is a decent bloke, with a real hunger and drive for playing and does a crapload of cummunity and charity work while at home must mean he is an arsehole and a half, further more, being in a team of superstars at uni, well, he is a superstar in that team, so i guess he lifts those4 around him and is a reason for there success, or is he a passenger everywhere who gets picked on luck?

I was more referring to you being out of your depth in a battle of wits vs Blue, although I agree that "you don't know nothing!" (noting the the double negative), as you do know a fair bit about rugby - it's just that you have a somewhat sky blue tinged view of the world.

I don't think anyone has ever said that Carter doesn't deserve his place at Sydney Uni - in fact, as far as I can remember everyone here says that Carter does very well at club level.

the "in a team of champions" bit at teh end of your praise was a bit backhanded for a player that has done everything and more asked of him in my opinion ash. he isnt the greatest player on earth, but he has earned and performed well in his spot (with limitations to his game, but everyone has those)

i noted the double negative and raise you a triple!

seems wierd that i cant keep up with blue when i raise a new point but his rumblings are said to be that of someone with 'wit"?

just wanna ask though, i know i have 'waratah' in my user name, but i rarely ever show much bias if any, i know alot more people on here that are one eyed in there hate for nsw that they become blinded but it seems weird that my opinion doesnt count when theres does!

maybe the truth lies in richard kingis selection!
