BIG night tonight, all family together and middle daughter to tell us about her five months in Cameroon business consulting...so if I can manage it I'll watch live then rewatch after the slaughter (hopefully not two slaughters in the one evening!).

Doubt they'd twig or be too upset if it was a shortened replay.

Gently cultivating a liking for rugby (albeit, for now, at international level with my eldest) within the family and I have to take a 'tough love' stance?

The spare tyre, oops meant significant other, has gone from 'oh crap, rugby season on again is it, see you in six months' to eagerly anticipating games (what have we got on this weekend?).

Then during this seasons RC I start getting emails from my eldest 'wish I watched that game with you, it was exciting', her current *interest* is welsh hence I suspect a welcome external influence, so all I ask is that the very first available replay (after an international test match played in another country at 'goddawful' hours) be a full replay.

The ENTIRE idea of paying for the rugby is to buy an audience catchment. In my case at least, it worked. Rugby is the ONLY reason I pay for three hundred channels of absolute shite. (oh yeah, forgot the shopping channels )

THIS is how they treat us?

And WHY do we get the short version? Straight after is a full, complete, entire replay of a domestic local league semi final that was not only played on free to air the night before, but was also fully broadcasted the night before at a much more reasonable (or doable) hour of ten at night.

Just out of curiosity, why does this match kick off at 5pm local time? No matches in Australia kick off at 5pm local time. Is it a traditional South African timeslot or just done to make it hard for Aussies to watch live?

I mean a 3pm local kick off would be 11pm here or 9pm in Perth so ok if you're on a night out.

Or 8pm kick off like most of our Tests is 4am and then it almost runs into the Pumas v ABs match.

But 5pm local time is 1am here which is a fairly shit time to catch it live as even if you are pulling an all nighter, you're usually pretty hammered by 1am.

Not for me. 4am you can go to bed early, wake up & watch the game until 6am, then have breakfast, stuff around arguing about the match on here for an hour and by then the lead up to Pumas v ABs is on the tele.

And if you're in Nz it'd be 6am start so fantastic for them.

I read the article Sully wrote and I couldn't agree more with him. I reckon the Wallabies will win.

More importantly, its significantly better if we finish 2nd instead of 3rd in the overall Rugby Championship - (Unless the Argies and Boks beat the Blacks). Just for confidence reasons.

Anyway, I'm definitely staying up for up! Carn Wallabies!

On 5th July, Mrs Doug and I had dinner with our mate Richo, and his lovely wife, Sue. We watched the Reds v Force match, (the Richos have Foxtel, and we don't), and during the match, Richo informed us that he would be presenting the jumpers to the players tonight at Newlands Stadium, Cape Town.

I believe they are talking about changing the scheduling of games PN, talk of moving the AB/Wallabies game later in RC.

I rate that will improve things alot with Aus ticket sales, it just seems that they are (generally) very fickle supporters, after doing well at home, and getting pumped in that second test the crowd attendances have been terrible. If they play the AB's later they should still be in it a while longer, and that should mean more interest.

Ok. I've been keeping this quiet but the time has come to out myself.

Am I the only one, right now, who feels completely apathetic with the Wallabies?

I can barely scrape together any interest in our national team.

Has the NRC spoiled me for "have a red hot go" rugby? Or am I sick of hearing the constant beat ups around the Wallabies, only to find they have bigger mouths than ability?

Or have I realised that after the last 10 years or so, this is really as good as the Wallabies can be, and there is no hope of cracking #1, or winning Old Bill again; let alone touching the Bledisloe.

Am I alone in this pit of despair?

I'm feeling you a bit Daz. I still care and watch, but there are two issues with the Wallabies at the moment, one internal, one external.

The Wallaby playing group. We are lacking a bit of excitement in the makeup of the team. Look at the 2011 RWC squad.

I would rate that a significantly more exciting team.

The external factor is the All Blacks. There is no doubt we are playing better, but so are they. Hence, the gap is not closing. To be playing better and not be closing the gap is disappointing.

Anyway, back to the match. I don't know why, but despite the above I feel like this is a game we could win. Wallabies by 3.
