CJ vd Linde who plays for Leinster has been recalled. No surprise - we have a real TH prop crisis. Nobody back in SA is good enough for test rugby at the moment on the TH.
Why CJ and not BJ. van der Linde has been injured for most of the last year, and only recently returned to the Leinster line up. One start, and two runs from the bench in the last few weeks. Meanwhile BJ Botha has been one of the form THs in the Magners League. Is it CJ's work in the loose that gives him the nod? Because I would rather have the better scrumming TH at this stage.

Interesting.

He was up against Munster's third-choice players in TP two weeks ago - we had an academy kid at tight-head, so catastrophic has our injury crisis been - and got solidly pounded. Only Rolland rescued him.

So the entire front row that played against Leicester are injured and going home. Steenkamp, Chilibaby and Jannie Doep. Good riddance.

Nasty thing to say but I hope this is the end of these guys international careers. They just don't have it...

To be replaced by Win du Preez and Andries Strauss (hallelujah), and an about turn by Puppet on the overseas policy.

Supposed to be signing for us on a three-month emergency-cover basis.

FFS, don't break him before we get a chance to feed him into the meat-grinder. Our front-row casualty figures at the moment are like something out of Verdun.

You lot should have signed the SuidWester Blaauw Thomo. He delt with them all including the Cheetah scrum. He has been awesome, maybe a blessing in the sky for the Stormers he hasnt made the squad.

Well, that's a surprise. Why wasn't the Bokke coach present for the beginning of the Bokke tour?
I saw him on the pavillion last night. Muir(he is the coach the white collar lot praised the most on TSF) went with the dirt trackers , the french xv stayed behind till this monday and GG is with them at the moment. Last time they tried this late departure thing (comes from the Bulls way of preparation in their S14 tour) it worked very well. Thought you saw the result in Hamilton.
The result in Hamilton was due to the Bokke not going there until the game? Okay. I gave more credit to the players who outscored the AB's.
When the Irish coach didn't bother coming out a few years back, it was an issue. Wondered if this would be too!

Different context, Scorz; DK had just been appointed under a month beforehand, and his coming out, fresh out of coaching the Munster lads in the HEC, would have caused problems. As it was, Bradley did a very good job; cracking game between the two teams.
I know. But similarities are there...

And it was at the height of rotation...

Well well, who would have picked the World Cup holders to be in crisis after winning the 3N so convincingly! Reasons and excuses? Injury? Fatigue? Ref?

Why should losing amount to crisis?

SA rolled the AB's at home and away, and bar one glitch the Aussies too. Then they send a team that loses to a second string Leicester, followed by a loss to France. Maybe crisis is too strong a word, but it's a bit of a rough morning here for me and I couldn't be arsed thinking up another one.

Should the Bokkke side that was selected have lost to the Tigers? No. Should the Test side have lost based on the 3N title and the way it was won? No. Why has it gone this way is what I'm interested in.

Let it go. There's nothing there. That is the bottom of the barrel.

We lost. Deserved to lose. The blokes are tired but its no excuse.

I know it's hard but no. Really.
You really are hurting then. Well, maye someone else can shed some light on the failure to win.

I called the French by 10+ before the game and expected us to lose.

Ok let me go really slowly. I thought it was quite obvious.

a. Our core players are tired. Du Preez, Botha, Matfield, Smit and Du Plessis were flat and made no impact. Normally they hammer the breakdown. Not today.
b. Kankowski was a passenger in the heavy stuff. He was a total liability when he carried the ball becuase he lost it about 4 or 5 times. We missed Spies. Kanko is not a test class 8.
c. Bakkies off for blood disrupted the pack.
d. Jacobs canlt hold the ball up in the tackle. He is too weak. We lost three turnovers in their 22 as a result. Thats normally ball our forwards feed off.
e. The French were too good on the night. They were worked up into a frenzy and Burger goign off and then they yellow card opened the
f. We missed composure at 12 with JdV gone.

Tired players, a few sub standard selections and 14 men for 60 minutes against a good team at home and presto, You lose.

In classic French style they will front the AB's with too much confidence and get snotted.

No excuses though...

Do you think I'm just stirring or fishing mate? FFS!

Those look like reasons, not excuses to me. I didn't get to see the game. Cheers.

The Puppet and Matfield reckon it was the singing of the RSA national anthems which did them in. :)

BTW, why is RSA allowed to have three (and NZ two) anthems sung before a game whan the rest of us have to make do with one?

One National Anthem in three languages. SA has eleven languages so I guess they could have a go in all 11 if you really wanted.

I read the article where they complained about the doped out little man bleating the anthem and although they complained about it they hardly used it as an excuse. It was fucking shocking though.

I wouldn't fancy putting up with Advance Australia Fair in English, Italian and Greek ...

... let alone in English, Greek, Italian, Vietnamese, three Chinese dialects, Indonesian, Dutch (for the RSA expats), Arabic and Hungarian .... (that's 11 for starters) ....

.... and then we could add just how many Aboriginal languages?

It really was terrible! I had to turn it off and I'm not South African. I wouldn't put it past the Frogs to do it on purpose. The Kiwis did it to us a few years ago the Fellow forgot the words to Advance Australia Fair. Maybe every team should bring their own singer. Got to agree with how long the anthem is SA's and NZ's
