I told you that you'd need heavy weight line when you cast bait that big !! Conclusion Jumping is still a fan favourite at G&G !

Thanks for playing along, it certainly brought the lurkers out of the woodwork!!! ;)

Yes , at this point hes (Noa) looking like having a crack with Royals.

Good on him, it's a great opportunity for him and I hope he makes a success of it.

Noa is a fit, skilful footballer and appears to be one of the guys who is genuinely working hard on himself. There is a solid step up in moving to Canberra and having a go - even at a 2nd Grade level, those guys over there are all training solidly in the gym, on the park and in pre-hab settings.

Lurker - someone who reads but doesn’t contribute to a forum.
Arrogant - someone who has an exaggerated sense of their own importance or abilities.
Can’t believe how clever you 2 guys are. BTW are you 2 insinuating that the team in blue ( you know the one that plays in the vastly inferior competition otherwise known as SIRU) pays some of it’s players.

Can somebody clear up whether the Brumbies are playing a Trial in Lavington or Canberra next Weekend
One Website says the Brumbies play the Western Force in Canberra next Saturday whilst another Website says that the Brumbies will play the Melbourne Rebels on Friday afternoon at Lavington !
I think somebody has double booked

The Brumbies are playing a Trial in Lavington on the 19th of February. Because it is the first round of the Super Rugby AU season, they will be sending their development squad and players who didn't quite make the cut for the thoroughbreds. This is the only trial for the Rebels who have the bye the first week of the Super Rugby AU season. The Brumbies offered to help as best they could and hence the dirttrackers. Good opportunity to see the balance of the Brumbies squad at 4pm then compare with the main squad at 7:30pm. The Rebels are treating this as a full season game, in preparation for their season launch the following week.

Not sure about the Brumbies main team trial match.

Has there been any word on a draw as of yet ? Or even confirmed who is going to be in what grade ?

Apparently it is not far away ( have heard that before)
Whilst plenty of Draft Draws have been circulated the rumour is that some Clubs are unhappy with Club/s picking & Choosing what Grade they want to play which if allowed to happen compromises the Draw in that it splits clubs on certain weekends

Plenty of updates on Camps, Trials and Brumbies updates but the Draw for 2021 is proving to be quite elusive at this time of the Year

I reckon it will be out by this time next week or earlier

You can't create a draw without having all the club nominations sorted - and we know that's been a dog's breakfast from the club's perspective.

From what I hear, the Club Presidents got a run down on the draw this week to update them on what's doing.

So would it be fair to assume that we are possibly waiting for some Tertiary Education numbers before the draw can really be confirmed ?

Draw is complicated by the following:
8 first grade teams
10 second grade teams
9 women's teams.
Unknown number of third grade sides at this stage.
Trying to make this work and please everyone would be a nightmare.

The draw will never be perfect, particularly not with so many different team make ups.

It'll be interesting to see how the season plays out in the second round for those clubs outside the Citadel. From what I saw, the Wagga clubs get the majority of their "travel" put of the way in the first round and only leave Wagvegas once in round two.

The option is basically have 4 First Grade byes (because of Deniliquin and Hay in 2nd Grade) or Play up-to 4 "make-up" matches in First Grade. Those extra games would see First, Second and Womens teams split on occasion - and avoiding that was the absolute priority for Clubs - hence the 4 byes.

I actually think it's a testament to the clubs and SIRU, that we have basically returned to a full strength competition straight after 2020. Kudos to all those teams that took a hit in 2020 and have basically bounced back, to the point that they can nominate teams in up to 3 grades.

I agree. It makes no sense to split clubs. Keeping all those grades at the same venue needs to be a priority.

No doubt there are other factors that influence the draw.

Hopefully it's a good season of footy for all the clubs and we can get back to some level of normality in 2021.

It’s great to have footy back. Re the draw - it looks like a case of the tail wagging the dog. Shouldn’t we be setting the 1st grade draw & the 2nds & women’s draw fitting in with that 1st grade draw. If the clubs don’t want split travel shouldn’t the byes be appearing in the 2nd grade & womens draw. I noticed in the 2nd round the byes in 1st grade are Reddies & City. Just my opinion & realise this is the draw the clubs opted for.

I think the tail has wagged the dog but i suspect it was unavoidable given the circumstances and the nominations. Possibly the biggest issue was that clubs felt that being split was the greater of the two evils when faced with the draw options. From our viewpoint (as in City) we spent a lot of 2020 split up and it does make for hard work - even for a club with good numbers. Let alone for a club that may be low on playing numbers !

Well its out there now , and that what we are playing towards. Looking forward to round 1 already !

If either Albury, ......................there would be Hell to play !!

Wrong.

The first Draw out had Albury away or Byes for the first 5 weeks, our first home game wasn't until the middle of May. Our approach was that it meant our second half of the Draw would be largely at home, and give us the opportunity for some team building in the early part of the draw. We've got not problem with the opinion, but just thought you would appreciate the correction
