Nick's a decent fella, it's a demanding gig and he's been in the role for a while now. Timing not ideal but I'm confident Aggies have the structures there to overcome this.

The key thing for Aggies is that they retain their core group of leaders which is always a battle at any Uni club.

Aggies may have a core group of leaders in their Club but they must find a "Head Honcho" along the lines of a Richard Turnbull or Stu Hodgson to make the tough decisions
I wonder if the Armstrong boys (Peter or Dave) should be approached

The SIRU Board have requested nominations for the 3rd Grade and Women's Competitions in 2017.

I think a positive step has been the suggestion that clubs enter two teams in the Women's Sevens Competition to be played as a First and Second Grade Competition.

This would be a good move to assist with more game time for teams and allow a pathway for progression there for the Women's Sevens. Obviously suits the larger clubs, however could also prove to be a breeding ground for some talented players to try the game in the 2nd Grade format and allow smaller clubs to attract more players.

I couldn't agree more YMS, there was talk of playing 10's at the AGM but this is by far the better option - well done SIRU for supporting the growth of the women's game.

Season is starting to take shape and only 2 months until the Comp kicks off
It will be interesting to see how many teams nominate for 3rd Grade this year

I think there are a number of options available to the clubs and board here, hopefully all options are looked at to determine the best solution for what is really one of the trickiest parts of the competition to get right.

Correct, I hear of some visa issues in the MIA, however they have a strong back up if the international option falls through.

Haven't heard anything about Aggies, potentially Seth as Head Coach...

unfortunately for Griffith over the years they have had problems with Visas etc
They need a strong coach because the talent is there but not the Discipline & Dedication to the cause
As far as Stoltenberg being Head Coach at aggies - I can't see it happening - he wouldn't have the Time

Their back up is a strong candidate and has form at the rep level. He is a valuable member of the club.

As far as Stoltenberg being Head Coach at aggies - I can't see it happening - he wouldn't have the Time

Just to be clear, that was a tongue in cheek comment.

However, it happens in Canberra every day of the week and has done for at least 10 years. It mightn't be viewed well by the other clubs, but there is form for it. And the Canberra DO's are paid by the clubs as well as the Brumbies.

It might motivate some clubs to support their coaches to progress to Level II or at least promote the ARU Coaching pathway?

I'll guess that Lee Kimball is the 'strong candidate" to look after Griffith
The Blacks haven't recovered since Seru Rogo left them after winning the premiership in 2014 because of a fallout with the Club President at the time - who (the President) didn't last much longer with the Club after that departure ?

Aggies can probably wait a bit longer to find a coach because Uni doesn't start until Feb 27

Early season predictions on Competition Ladder at the end of the season- Waratahs, City, Tumut, Aggies, Leeton, Albury & CSU

I would think Wagga City are almost unbackable favourites at this stage. Despite the loss of JC.

Waratahs have supposed to have lost a swathe of players, but they always recruit well and will be well placed. Aggies were looking strong throughout 2016 and could go either way. Tumut will probably feel the loss of Tino pretty hard. Leeton will get behind Marika and give him a strong, but probably not overly disciplined team - they'll be exciting and exasperating to watch I believe. Albury, Griffith and Reddies all have the potential to move up the ladder, but will depend on off-season recruitment and pre-season training.

You make some good points and i suppose with Stu Dyer moving from Leeton to City this year is a big +
In my earlier Post I left out Griffith - I've got the Blacks on top of Albury & CSU and behind Leeton

I reckon we are looking at a more even Comp than last year
Waratahs will miss Le Lievers point scoring which was responsiblwe for a lot of their big scvores - and he could play as well
City are in the box seat to make a big impact on the Comp - playing in last year's Grand Final and coming so close should give them a lot of belief

My top 5 is City, Waratahs, Tumut , Aggies & Griffirth

I hear that there are two confirmed changes in the local coaching scene. Both in Wagga.

I thought the Wagga Coaches had been sorted out except for Wagga ag who are looking at a replacement for Nick McCarthy
Mark Fisher is in charge of CSU, Angus McLeod is Head coach at Waratahs and Nathan Honeyman is the coach at City
Aggies haven't officially named a replacement for McCarthy yet - Have they ?

He (Honeyman) got them to a Grand Final after about 40 years trying , he supervised their Pre Season since last November and all of a sudden he is gone - thanks for your services - Goodbye

City have always been pretty handy at shooting themselves in the feet for many years now.

Plenty of successful coaches have had their critics over the years from committees , players & supporters
Honeyman called the shots as he saw them and seemed to toughen up City last year.
City have had plenty of internal coaches over the years who couldn't & wouldn't make the Big Calls when required
It's a distraction the Club didn't need but they'll have to live with the decision in the end

I think there are some kudos due to Nathan. He brings a degree of intensity and energy which has been missing from a lot of Southern Inland teams. His track record speaks for itself, he was involved with the Steamers in both 2013 and 2015, and then with City in 2016. 3 Grand final appearances from 3 cracks is not a bad record.

The word is they have got great numbers at Training but who is running the show this year
