I've seen a few people say this, but watching Turner for Eastwood it was clear that he does have the ability to beat players one on one. Obviously this isn't the Test level, but while he was at 13 for the Woodies he regularly beat defenders on both the inside and outside; against Southern, he set up/scored 4 tries from 5 touches.

Give him a little more space and he is quite capable of beating players one on one.

That is right. Turner has regularly beaten multiple defenders. The best example was his first try for the Tahs against the Crusaders in 2008? at the SFS. In and away then smoked Caleb Ralph I think it was to the corner. Perfect wingers try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsT_rUDhpYE

Good to see at least two specialist wingers in the squad now. It will be even better to see the 11 and 14 jerseys filled by wingers.

I hope for, but don't expect, a few sensible changes, and good use of the bench.

That clip highlights his issue, he smoked them on the outside, since then they know he doesn't step inside so the defend with that knowledge and make him come inside

Yep

Bloody good run, In and away to stand up Ralph? then puts ball in two hands and does change of pace to beat McDonald on the outside. Excellent footwork and everything you want from a winger.

That was the play that made me and many others think, "hang on, we could have a real find here". Unfortunately, we haven't seen a lot more of that kind of play from him yet. I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt after the way he's worked on his game this season and believe he deserves another shot at it.

The difficulty the Tahs and the Wallabies have had with Turner at 14 is that look who has been in the centres for the Tahs and last year in the test he played Turner just got smashed by high balls all year before getting dumped.

He never got the ball on front foot attack like he did in the highlighted clip. It is a rare winger who has been able to beat the defence when the rest of his team is going backwards. Tune was the last one for Oz that I can think of. Before the Lote lovers start piping up look at his form for the Tahs in his last three years, when they had parity at best in the pigs he was ordinary. Turner was the best winger at the Tahs until Mitchell this year. So while I don't rate Lachie as being the class of Tune or Campo or even Mitchell, he is a very good specialist winger and I would much rather see a specialist winger at 14 than JOC (James O'Connor) who is a centre who played 15.
