Check out the litte Ranga in the stands taking pictures on his mobile. Now there's a young man who's been entertained before the players have even hit the field. I bet he's a member now....

Question 1. : Who are the primary participants/watchers of rugby?
Answer : Young men and men who were once young.

Question 2. : What do most young men find attractive and entertaining?
Answer: Fit young women

It's not rocket science - give the people what they want!

My daughter who is 9 has been a Marlinette in the past. The routine they did was choreographed carefully for weeks at dance class. The girls some of you are criticising are not strippers. They add to the entertainment of the night. Remember when your bored wife or girlfriend goes home after another woeful performance your partners inner dancer will be talking to her friends more about their performance.

Its one aspect of a much needed re-branding of the game. Rugby needs to bring the 'sexy' back into the game as a whole.
1)better TV ads - Barbarian pulled of a better Union ad than we've seen on TV for ages. Its seems like a fairly easy thing to get right but they often get it so wrong.
2)Cheerleaders should be encouraged. Some may complain for a while, but if you came to watch footy you still can.
3)Try celebrations should be encouraged at ALL home games.... especially if your a forward! They arent just for Digby & Quade. Because lets face it people love seeing them. Its not tacky its just good fun.

Why is the superbowl the most watched show on TV?? because they pull out all the rediculous extras that make a dull game fun!
Bring on the chearleaders and bring on the atmosphere.

Is anyone thinking of the girls basic needs? Its WAY too cold to have cheerleaders.

It's ok in Brisbane or Perth during the Super season. May not be an option in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra.

Most cheerleaders are aspiring dancers, not strippers. In American sport, they don't even get paid. I believe there's some stat like the only paid cheerleaders in the States are the Dallas Cowboys girls and an NBA team, but I forget which one. Most either do it for fun or as a resume-builder in the hope of appearing in video clips, stage shows, etc. Many are university students and most teams have a no-fraternising policy between the team and the cheerleaders.

Now, things might be different here in Oz but calling them strippers is bloody poor form.

They still do it in freezing weather at NFL games. I watched cheerleaders at a Bills game in late December. Buffalo is in upstate New York. The warmest it got was minus-5 that day. The girls wore huge coats when not dancing and were in skimpy snow suits or full-body jumpsuits when they did.

The bottom line is that the Tahs will not get cheerleaders because it doesnt fit with the culture of the Sydney rugby public.

My comment about them being Strippers was made in jest and I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was going for a cheap laugh and I appologise to anyone I have upset.

Cheerleading when done properly can add to the viewing enjoyment of everyone.

I'm sure they can dance in work attire using the Fin Review as a prop if you want something to interest the Sydney crowds.

Currently the pre-game entertainment at Suncorp three weeks ago was a bunch of teens dancing for "so you think you can dance".

The girls don't have to wear anything skimpy or anything, having them doing some form of try celebrations etc is better than what we currently have!

Maybe the Tah's could introduce some penalty goal celebrations. That would get the crowd going.

wed have to score some tries in order to celebrate them
I've never been one to let the facts get in the way of a good story, but what would the Force, Stormers, Rebels, Lions, Hurricanes, Brumbies, Bulls, Highlanders, Chiefs, or Cheetahs be doing while the Tahs celebrate their 2011 tries to date?

Code:
Team Tries	Tries Against
Western Force 14	31
Stormers 17	8
Rebels 22	50
Lions 22	34
Hurricanes 22	31
Brumbies 22	28
Bulls 22	27
Highlanders 25	22
Chiefs 26	23
Cheetahs 27	34
Sharks 30	17
[B]Waratahs 30	14[/B]
Blues 31	22
Reds 34	22
Crusaders 38	19

You could speed the game up. Most times you watch a Tahs game, the trainer has a bigger presence on the field than the players.
